Hey @mike21sport - what was the outcome on this? Any better?

HI Travs

Perfect timing, collected the car this morning after the dealer had had it for 4 weeks !

Went in for the SW patch, then they needed a spare module to trigger the update and Primary User re set, this all happened over Christmas and New Year

However, that wasn't the end of it. As you know, the software tells you not to start the engine, so its all done Ing on, engine off ,not a great idea over an extended time

I was meant to collect last week but an engine check light came on, it was the battery connection. either not connected or not properly. Cleared the light ''come and get it''

Halfway to the dealer I get a call, car is a not starter, go home. NEW BATTERY (result) fitted under warranty, all good. Starts and stops, 50 miles later all seems ok.

App works, Primary works, will look to download a POI overlay for the navigation and will report back

Cheers for the update - got chatting to a chap in a car park the other day who was a techie for Porsche but previously had been VAG; said most things they get/got in the workshop were plugging and leaving for a few hours for a software update. You'd think running that on external power would be common practise.

He was saying most things are a couple of years old from their design - MIB3 was probably specced up a couple of years ago since then there's been at least 1 new iphone model and several androids. Technology moves on and leaves this stuff behind. Interesting to read about the Golf 8s.

Good to hear about the new battery - bit of an own goal by the dealer though. May have to talk to mine about this if its not any better.

Hi Travs

Yes, they can't keep up, which is part of the reason for Apple car play & Android Auto, phone based, always up to date and just a dumb terminal in the car for display

Manufacturers don't want to lose control and of course if your signal drops out, you lose everything phone based, so not quite there yet

Still, mine is still working fine a month on so mustn't complain 😄

Hope you get your sorted

Cheers Mike - fingers crossed for you for sure. Sounds like my MIB3 needs a bit of an update from a couple of other threads so will look at that as soon as I can. Actually, was yours in especially for that or as part of a service initially? Just wondering whether its something i'm going to be charged for - which I don't believe should be the case obviously.

HI Travs

No, mine was bought ex-demo and never worked so I put the arm on the dealer and CC'd Skoda. All agreed and fixed under warranty

If yours is still under warranty it should be free providing you can prove the loss of functionality. Good luck and hope it works for you

I’m currently having a fight with this now, can’t believe how poor the new system is from my 19 plate I’ve just swapped from. If there is a software update for this can anyone tell me what the latest version is so I can check if the car has it?

Skoda dealer was very wary about this but basically a factory build fault. Dealer had the car all over Christmas, did a complete re-boot with new software. There was talk of replacing the ICE unit if it didn't take, but it did, so OK. Really wouldn't want to be doing this out of warranty

Sorry I can't help you with the full detail as, under warranty, they didn't share the work, just said its fixed !

Hope yours get sorted without to much grief
