Assuming 256mm diameter front brake discs and not 276mm, the thickness of the front brake pads is 19.7mm which includes the metal backing plate.

D7687860 BREMBO excl. wear warning contact Height: 54,6mm, Width: 146mm, Thickness: 19,7mm Brake Pad Set, disc brake P 85 041 cheap

@montec2058How much wear is there with the pads?  Do you have a manual or a DSG ?

Better the pads are the consumable that needs replaced rather than the discs IMO.

It is nice if it is 2 or 3 sets of pads needing replaced before the discs do, again  just IMO.

Cars driven hard might not have the driver braking much and corroding discs can be the issue.

My dads 2 year old Karoq which has only done 6000 already needs new front brake pads, he's not very happy.

Not good, I looked at another 70 reg kamiq dont know the miles and pads just as low, looked at new kamiq and pads twice the thickness, let's see what the dealer says tomorrow.

Dealer says brake pads 20% worn but there quarter the thickness of new, are well will go with what the dealer says.

My 8 year old Roomster with 43k on the clock is on original front and rear pads. The front have 3mm left and need changing in a month or two.

Dealership staff will give you the low down on the Service & visual brake inspection,

some say 20% worn and others that are real muppets upselling might say 80% worn even when the customer has put a car in with new pads fitted.

When you ask what the technicians actual measurement silence comes the reply.

Numerous examples of this in every section of Briskoda for years past.

It is a global issue with chancers.

Almost identical for our roomster, front pads changed near 9th birthday at 44k miles.   Rear pads originals, all discs originals.

So if anyone needs pad changing, try and find someone with old stock, as pads made 9 years ago seem to last longer.

If the front pads on my Octavia need replacing at 56k at next service I won’t feel so bad....needing new pads at 6k is shocking. Mine were 60% worn at MOT in September.

Good point made here. It seems to be coming up regularly that modern Skoda pads don't wear as well as older versions.

Another point to make is that we don't all drive and treat our cars in the same fashion. It's one of the reasons that garages don't easily say " of course we'll replace your clutch, brake pads/discs sir", when you complain that they're wearing out quickly, because they know that some people ride the clutch and brakes, whilst others treat their consumer items on a car with sympathy and respect.
