Retrofit ACC

Featured Replies

I just got my iV style superb and I absolutely love it, unfortunately it only has standard CC. It has all the hardware I think is required as it has front sensors, lane assist, blind spot detection etc. Would it be as easy as getting the levers etc and coding it in?

One important equipment required for ACC is the A5 front camera. If you don’t have, it is possible, but a big job if you want to get at the OEM integration level.

If you have TSR, you already have A5 camera. It will be then much easier to retrofit ACC. You have made the right list if needed things for this case.

Yes I do have tsr. Would the parts be difficult to source? Thanks for your reply.

ACC doesn't need the front camera... It uses the radar unit :)

If you already have front assist, then you'll probably need to switch the radar unit, possibly add some wiring then it's on to coding/FeC codes.

If you don't have front assist, you'll need some radar mounting parts, a radar and to add the wiring too.

edit:

ACC doesn't 'need' the A5 camera but I think if you have an appropriate A5 camera then you'll get pACC (predictive adaptive cruise control).

Might be worth giving these guys a shout. They should be able to tell you if you have the correct radar unit already (assuming you have the means to identify the unit you have now). You'll need to get and fit the stalk set. As mentioned above, ACC itself doesn't use the A5 camera. However as you have it already (Lane Assist requires it), you could possibly get Predictive ACC.

I've never used these guys, just came across them mentioned in a few retrofit threads.

I do have front assist but it looks like it could be a whole lot of hassle I'll stick with the standard cc.

Correct that ACC doesnt use the front camera, uses the front facing radar.

Regarding pACC, a very specific radar is needed for this job but it can be retrofitted to all models yeah.

Oups sorry for the confusion about A5 camera... I should have mixed with some other spec....

There are a lots of OEM spare parts website. Otherwise your local dealer is the best solution. ;)

Predictive ACC (pACC) requires a specific radar plus A5 to work.

It relies on the A5 camera to read the speed limit road sign, and then adjusts the car's speed accordingly.

Many thanks for all the replies lads. I used George Dalton here in Ireland to retrofit standard cc on an Octavia for me before. It looks like I have the required hardware, camera, radar etc, obviously I'll need two new levers and the lower cowling, would it be worthwhile giving him a ring?

I guess as its just a phone call, why not? But I can imagine it'll be bloody expensive for the parts alone.

Just a pipe dream really, as you say it could be very pricey.

Lads, it’s a doable job. The stalk is just over £100.

He likely has the radar already. Get the plastic trim for the steering column and the rest is coding.

it’s worth a phone call or a FB message to confirm the feasibility.

You're giving me hope again.. would I need to replace the cc switch that I already have? Would I need an extra wiring loom?

Sorry I only clicked the link there now, that looks like it would do the job perfectly.

Does the standard cruise have radar? Does it have collision avoidance (or whatever it’s called) - when you’re coming up at < 5 mph behind a stationary vehicle and it automatically brakes? I ask as this uses the radar unit too I believe.

OP already confirmed they have Front Assist (collision avoidance), and therefore the radar that ACC uses. Regular CC doesn’t use that radar at all, as it just involves setting a speed and driving at that.

Good stuff - be great to get it done. It is an amazing system compared to the standard CC, so good luck with the project. 👍🏻

I had it before on a 172 Octavia, it was let down by the manual handbrake but once out of town it was fantastic.

Hi guys, just to be sure in some things:

You will need to change the stalk, lower trim and then coding. I have ACC module and gateway HIGH, but only normal CC, 2016yr Superb. So actually I’ve got most of the hardeare already installed (front assist without camera, so I have radar allready). Today I bought the levers (many vag cars use same levers for acc, I picked Seat Aronal my2017 levers), but beware- important are the letters in the end of spare part code). Then I’ts up to coding only, this site mentioned earlyer (vag retrofit) can do online coding depending a car, price will be 250-350€. You should have access to VAS5054A for this aswell. Today I ordered the parts: levers with acc what fits to my Superb were 39€+25€ delivery from ebay.
plastic trim from Skoda official dealer 13.99€ on order for the end of this week.
Then O can update you os the vag retrofit real or not with promise to code online. They will answer you quickly, and will check for your VIN to see if you have all the neccesary hardware and then will give you all the missing parts codes. I did contact them and will wait now for parts.. :) Hope everything will go as I intended..
