Then he obviously did not read the fault codes, just changed what he thought it may be, you've been taken for a ride.
Ask him what fault coded were cleared and what the Ohm readings were for the glow-plugs he took out.

My has small device that links to mobile app.  Any help with these codes??

The diagnostic trouble code P0201 tells us the ECM has detected a malfunction with the cylinder 1 injector circuit. This code indicates out-of-range performance was detected in the operation of cylinder 1 injector circuit. Once a malfunction is detected, a Check Engine Light is triggered and failsafe mode is enabled.

Hi all, any idea why the the the glow plug warning light should start flashing and put the car into a limp mode, its a 2012 2.0 Ltr diesel

Yes. It is probably necessary to clean your DPF. Can be done with a special product ~ cheap. Or cleaned out by a dealer ~ possibly expensive! Good luck whatever...

I take you have knowledge of that, why not give us the name of the special product.

I have some knowledge of that ~ I will find out what was used by my mechanic and post the brand name here.

Many Thanks for your input. Appreciate it

Which one of the 3 fault codes posted above point to a blocked DPF?

None of them as far as I can tell; but a flashing glow plug warning light might well do. Did on my 2011 170 diesel (however it is uprated and had done 90k miles).

Mines same spec. 2011 170 99k miles

Can they not be reconditioned ?

Apparently as each is controlled by an embedded chip, reconditioning is seen as a waste of money, better in the long run to buy new

There seems to be a lot of speculation on this thread, I fail to understand why VAG owners don't simply buy a genuine VCDS cable (start at approx £225) and get a proper scan with real error codes rather than try to interpret generic codes.

Every tdi owner must know by now that a glow plug error light is simply a cover for a multitude of errors which can only be identified by a VCDS scan ... or you could continue to throw funds at random parts until you luck on the correct part.

Depends what diagnostic equipment they have, VCDS is VAG group only ... and a lot depends upon the ability of the mechanic to translate what the codes say into the correct action.

@Stingray30 Perhaps you should try a request on the VCDS forum for someone local to scan your car?

Lots of Brisky members with VCDS will scan your car for a drink, and will probably be knowledgeable to point you in the right direction with whatever the issue is.

update on car.....took to mechanic with cable and laptop and fault was showing map sensor...booked in to get looked at ......but phone my mechanic that had been looking at it to ask what all he done,,,,,,he said change map sensor, boost valve....he still think actuator and he said he check all sensor by removing and checking then faults on computer to make sure they working

@Stingray30 See if you can borrow a vacuum kit, you can check for vacuum leaks and also see whether the actuator is moving fully before forking out on a new part.

Sorry think he said he that aswell. am not a mechanic but heard him say pressure and leaks. am hoping now when 2nd eye gets looking it can get sorted. coming up to 2 months off the road

guys you wouldnt believe that dam car today......was lying at my work for 4 days there until mechanic today.. battery was dead and when i jump started it the glowpulg light didnt come on.....dpf light had been on from last day..(thinking coz was driving in limp mode)......was able to drive it a regen dpf and so i left at mechanics then with no lights on at all....anyone have any new ideas for what this could be?

@Stingray30 The glow plug light, and limp mode would come on about 20 times on my 15v mile commute to work.

I would cycle the ignition and carry on until the next occurance.

I did find that clearing out the stored error codes regularly with a handy Carista lengthened the times between limp mode activations.

Been clearing codes all the time. No joy . Normally goes into limp mode as soon as I press accelerator. What does cycle the ignition mean??

Turn it off then back on again, I usually do this while the car is still coasting - the glow plug light then goes out.

My 1.6tdi would go into limp mode under 2k rpm.
