I've got a 2014 Octavia vRS which has the diamond cut face on the wheels. The wheels are starting to look really shabby now the road salt etc has got behind the lacquer and the paint's bubbling.

 

I'm going to get the wheels refurbed but just in a single colour with no diamond cut face on the spokes.

What's best, paint or powder coat?

 

 

 

Powder coating once all the current coating is removed. 

Powdercoat is more durable in my experience and gives a better finish as it’s easier to achieve an even coat with the alloy being electrically charged as it’s being applied (fascinating process really)

 

paint opens up more colour choices though tbf but providing you don’t want something obscure i would always chose Powdercoat 

I've just chosen to go with PC over a regular spray. The final result is more consistent and durable, which wins over picking a very specific colour (for me).

 

It's also quite reasonable, price wise.

The white ones from the WRC.

 

Although they won't be OEM candy white, they'll be much more durable.

Yeah I would think it'll be hardy noticeable. But if you're intending to actually drive the car it makes more sense.

Exactly. It might not be my daily, but it'll be driven at least weekly.

 

The gloss white powder coat finish looks absolutely great too!

I actually took them to the coaters yesterday. I'll post pics when they return ( couple of weeks).
