The vehicle cannot be unlocked when using keyless operation (remote control key)

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I was wondered if someone could tell me or you have the same issue before, please let me know how to fix it. Thank you very  much.

Problem description:

1. The vehicle cannot be unlocked when using keyless operation (remote control key) for both side of the door.

2. Pressing the unlocked button on the remote control key, it is working.

3. Put the key in from of the handle (closer to the door handle), and then grabs the door handle. The unlocked is still not working. ( I did not wear gloves on the hands)

Checked and replaced items:

The problem is still not fixed.....

1. Already changed the battery for Remote control keys.

2, Check the car battery, it is not really bad. But I already changed the new one.

3. Local service team Synchronized the keys.

4. Local service team resetting the car computer.

5. Local service team replaced the door latch for the both side of the door.

Is this happening everywhere you park, or in one location.

If it is latter then something is jamming the signal (some other bit of equipment nearby causing too much interference).  You would need to report an illegal transmission so it can be investigated and source traced.

Another obvious check is you don’t have the keys next to (or on same key ring) as something else that transmits, eg a door or gate fob, security entry card etc

If it happens everywhere and you have changed the key batteries in both keys then suggests car receiver is faulty, it might accept the programming but doesn’t mean aerial part is good.

Good calls there John. Surely though, if there was an interference source, using the key as normal (pushing the button to unlock) wouldn't work either unless very close to the car. And even then it might not work immediately.

I would have thought the same would be the case for the receiver on the car end not working.

The way to be a bit more certain of signal interference would be to try unlocking the car by pushing the button from a bigger distance away from the car. Not more than five to ten metres away though. I've seen my keys being affected by being parked next to a certain kind of car too but never had KESSY affected in such a way.

Let us know how you get on.

Make sure you are only touching the inside of the handle and not also accidentally touching the sensor on the outside.

Hi John,

Thank you for your message.

This problem was happening anywhere I park my car, and I have tried to use the remote control key only without any stuffs. It still had same problem.

as you mentioned, the car receiver might be faulty or the aerial part might be not in the good condition. Would you mind tell me which receiver and aerial I should check it?

Thanks a lot for your sharing.

Good point Heavy Metal Rich. I will try it tomorrow morning by using your testing method.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your point.

Yes, I only touching the inside of the handle only without any gloves or something on my hand.

I'd imagine if it has been with the dealer for investigation then it's unlikely to be user error......?

Exactly, if the dealer is able to reproduce the problem as opposed to the normal “we have investigated and cannot replicate the issue” response, then the car should be left with them until the problem has been fixed.

Could be a fault with the door locks had to have both my front ones replaced on my Karoq under warranty is a known fault

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your sharing.

But I would like to know which locks you have changed before. Is door latch or door handle sensor or the other parts?

Thanks a lot.

The car was back at the dealership 3 times they changed some circuit board first then the passenger locking mechanism then the drivers door locking mechanism and that cured the problems

Just had mine done yesterday. The fault code for the door goes on for two pages. It was in before and they said all fine. Lucky it's under warranty which ends on 24 Nov with new car arriving end of December.
