Front headlights, fog lights and heating stopped working

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just suddenly the Front lights and the heating stopped working on my car. I tried different fuses to change but no luck. What fuse should I look for to change if this is the problem.

Any idea what could be the problem?  I dont think the 2 front bulb just burned out suddenly. Must be some electrical problem or similar. Thanks very much for any help.

It'd be strange to have headlights and radio on the same circuit. Left and right are also normally separately fused. Scanning the car will help if you have anyone with the gear nearby. My guess would be the switch on the end of the ignition barrel.

The headlights are on 57 and 58. Yes they are separate. Scanning with an OBD 2 ?  I have one somewhere but never used.  I`ll try to find it.

Thanks.

Hi All

If anyone runs into the same problem with different cars. This starter switch seems to be in all VW group cars.

It seems that that the ignition starter switch caused the problem. Part Number  6RA905865A  Ignition, starter switch. The copper in it seemed to be worn. The mechanic cleaned it and bent it a little bit back what needed, and now it works again. The heating works as well. They are connected.  I`m going to have it changed later when he has the part, and I was happy to drive around at nights if needed for a while until he gets the new.
