Fuel Smell

Featured Replies

Hi, My wife's 2014 fabia 1.2 tsi has recently started to smell of fuel in the cabin but only after I stop at say some traffic lights for a few seconds. It also smells when I open the bonnet but this quickly goes. I can't see any obvious signs of leaks but let's be honest I wouldn't know where to look. The fuel cap is tight so I'm sure it's in the engine bay. Any ideas as to what it could be would be much appreciated.

Clear up title

@Lee12

Welcome to the forum.

Is it one of the first Mk3 Fabia or is it a Mk2 Fabia?

Best have someone experienced check the car PDQ.

The  correct fuel cap should not be an issue, the car should be able to be on its roof and no petrol coming out the filler or the breather.

Hi, it's a mk2.

It is a high probability that it is a broken PCV valve, maybe search using that term - even on Google, including VW 1.2TSI 8V.
