?? Rhythmic knocking sound rear drivers door

Featured Replies

UK 5 door sel hatch 1.5. Hi Any ideas, have emptied boot, Inc spare, locked seatbelts, still a rhythmic knocking,  though it does go on smooth roads , so there most of the time , only stopping it is put hifi on its that noticeable, so any tips appreciated

The noise is probably the hatch lid dampers. I have had to grease mine twice in 7,000 miles. Open the lid and find the two black plastic dampers where the boot lid locates on the body lip. The dampers consist of a shell, a strong spring and a locator. Grease or spray the assembly for instant relief.

I tracked mine down to the rear seat catch. A bit of padded tape round the catch seemed to fix it.

It's going to the dealer Monday, thanks for suggestions, have tried but no luck, to say the least this model launch is rubbish so many issues it's a laugh

Just did a 100 miles run, it actually sounds like the rear drivers door is not latched, fingers crossed for Monday and the dealer check

Ask them to test drive on uneven surface with open trunk door

Hi, test drive today, interesting the tech guy ex Lexus so knew about how a car should be silent, he did a fab job very helpful but could not locate the sound as annoyingly it didn't show itself, have given up as other issues with car and Skoda, want to part ways

Couple of turns of Duck tape on seat catches and small squares of carpet on boot rubbers have made the car almost silent. Not what you want on a 30k car though!

Are you trying to somehow spin that it's an expensive car? Octavia is easily the cheapest car on the market for what you're getting in terms of spec.

Boot rubbers supposedly were being replaced by Skoda during services.

Can you find a cheaper car with a similar engine and gearbox? Yes it's cheap, it's a budget working vehicle.

sorry got to disagree  with you on that point,am paying over 34000 pounds for my car and i dont call that cheap in my world.maybe it is cheap in your world but we shall agree to disagree.

With my previous Superbs (plus a friend's Touran and another friend's Golf estate), we have all suffered from a metallic rattle coming from the rear of the car.  In my case the dealer stripped the door down (to no avail) and refitted it but in the end, I wrapped a little electrical insulation tape round the metal loops on the bodywork that the door latches engage with and instantly, noise was gone.  My friends had similar success.
