Rattle from rear of new RS

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

I have just noticed a rattle coming from the rear passenger side. I thought it may be a problem with the rear head rests.

When the rear seat is dropped into it's forward position I noticed that the outside bollster is very loose with no clip to hold it in place.

From moving around the cables behind the bollster I was able to reproduce the rattle. When I tried the seat bollster on the drivers side there was very little play in it.

I was hoping you guys would be able to check out your cars to see if this is a problem common to all Octi's. I know Gaff's head is wrecked at the moment with a similar noise. Any help with this would be appreciated:thumbup: MC GYVER

Just checked out mine - the top end of the bolster isn't very firm but the cables beneath are held really firmly against the metal work with plastic cable ties. I can't get a rattle out of them. Could it be your cable ties need pulling up/replacing or whatever?

My rattle is on BOTH sides. I doubt mine is the bolsters or cables as the noise goes when seat is down. So it could only be seat not positioned properly or the mechanism for locking the seats is vibrating.

I had it in with the dealer yesterday, he gave the receivers a tap of a hammer to move them down a little for a better catch. BTW theres NO rubber stops on the back of the seats anymore.

I have a different 'rattle' to the one you are experiencing, the housing for the centre brake light rattles against the glass while drive on pooor road surfaces and is hugely annoying!. Being replaced under waranty next week!.

i too have 1300 mile old VRS and i have a rear boot rattle, only just started. sounds like a creak but not on bumpy or uneven ground just there, i thought i had left rattles behind in my old Renault Scenic.

also going into the delaer on Saturday as the drivers door handle (the one to shut the door) is cracked strange...

I have rattles coming from the drivers side rear seat, now the passenger side too. I found folding up and down the seat would stop the noise for a while. Some people on here have mentioned the locking mechanism to be at fault so that is what I will mention to the dealer when I take it in.

I would do but the passenger door distorts and buzzes away when the voulme is turned up a bit.....typical!

From what I was told Skoda are looking at it but feck all has been done to rectify it. Some of us found by wedging some cardboard in above the seat release clip sorts it temporaily .

One other thing is check your rear side bolsters. I found mine to be rubbing off the door causing a kinda squeaking. The rear seat clips is more like a loose washer moving about.

Be sure to mention it to dealer, it would be interesting to see what they suggest.

Oh btw....

i got my wife to sit in the back and it seems that pressing the rear centre btrake light cover that the noise goes, hopefully the dealer can sort it out on saturday.

just got back from the dealer, opened the boot tapped the trim and said "i'll order another one" easy!

seems like its a known problem as he was quick to deny that they had seen any others.

Sometimes a bit hard when you spend all that money on a new car...and it sounds like a 10yr old banger..

Easy for you to say, leave a few copper coins in one of the cubby holes on your car and see how ya like it after a few weeks ;) .

here here to vimto2000 comments, bad form when your clips are held together with cardboard and tape and after 1 year theres still been no resolution.
