Jack Lifting Points

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm about to change wheels on my new Octavia, but the lifting points aren't clearly marked and the manual doesn't provide much detail other than 18 cm in the front and 30 cm in the back. I seriously cannot see where the jack should go. I've had many smaller cars where these markings were very clear.

Does anyone have a good advice on how to see where the jack should be put?

Thanks.

There's a little triangle on the bodywork at each jacking point.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply.

Can't see it... I had the car given a full double rust treatment... 😞 I do see some metal sticking out in the front, but nothing in the back.

The metal that you refer to is the strengthened area which prevents the seam kinking. The ' triangles' IIRC are in the dimpled zone on the body.

I'll try and have a better look. Thanks.

Just look under the car, it will not leave you with any doubt.

And some visual presentation.

Offtopic: does these tyres make any humming noise? (like “louder” than summer ones)

Actually I don't remember since the picture is from last winter. And I went from a 18 year old Honda to this one so everything is much quieter. :D

In general I would say all winter tiers are a bit louder than summer tires.

I found the indents on the side of the cars as shown on the great picture that TheUltraRunner posted.

This is what it looks like under the car:

I tried to add an arrow indicating where I think the jack should go...

This looks correct.

I managed to get it done :) Thanks a lot.

How many NM do you torque the bolts with?

Do you know how to put the car on jack stands? I need to lift up the car with the jack but then on which point should the jack stand be on? is there a central "point" under the car that can be used to lift up the rear or front on the car? thanks
