Digital directions sign.

Featured Replies

I was in Chesterfield yesterday and spotted this (FYI - large) sign and think it's probably the first time I've seen one like it.

Are they commonplace in others areas?

Only example I even know of.

@ £55,000 each they are a bargain.

wonder is it just because of the car park availability indicators? seems a bit wasteful tbh, they could just put 3 small led counter on an aluminium signpost. its not like the roads can be varied ..

It may be used to indicate congestion too?

That I've seen done before.

Now we just have to wait until some of the bulbs blow and one of the exits magically dissappears!

My thoughts too, it's not as if Vicar Lane is going to end up in Inverness suddenly... :D

It's so that it can carry sponsored adverts. Cheaper for them than getting people to sponsor the roundabouts and having to plant flowers, shrubs etc and maintain them, if they dont pay their bill someone elses ad will be put up.

Nowhere is sacrosanct now, even staring at the wall of a motorway services urinal contemplating the meaning of life while discharging I was assaulted by advertising.

Those of you with your infotainment displays are on borrowed time, you will have to pay for an adblock.

I should be alright... :D

The original 'Clubland Classix: The Album of Your Life' from 2008. I'm on my third copy since '08 I think. A 3CD set, makes me think it's time to buy a CD changer because I hate having to try and swap CDs or bring passengers because they don't shut up...

If you're a man with Spotify like myself then this is most of the tracks but on a playlist.

Oh! They're Ikea scissors btw. :D

I quite like Ultrabeat (obviously that's Scooter in the picture though lol), but my Mum ruined 'Pretty Green Eyes' for me...

Original: "never have to be alone", Misheard: "never have to pee alone". I never hear the song without laughing, and you'll be the same now, John. :D

Must admit, I thought 391 mobility scooters available was a bit frivolous too 😇

The roads could be closed due to works, in which case this sign could reflect this and be updated far quicker than your SatNav.... the fact that the council/HA likely wouldn't actually get around to the alterations for weeks is what lets the technology down.
