Change the car image in Driver Assistance menu on Maxidot

Featured Replies

Majority of the time I am driving my maxi dot is set to driver assistance so I can see if it is picking up the car in front detecting lanes etc. One thing that really bugs me is that I drive a superb but the car image shown on the screen is that of an Octavia ? is there some way to change this?

Thanks

The image it displays is of other cars, it wont display your car.. It is setup to mimick your view from the seat, so you can see a resemblance of a steering wheel on the maxidot when using the driver assist view!

Yeh I know. Would still be nice if I could change it to something a little more appealing. It definitely looks like the Octavia.

I would assume there is, but havent heard of it.. Maybe someone thats more into coding will join in and enlighten us!

Its not an octavia, its just a generic looking car. Cant be changed at all.

This video could possibly be a starting point. 👍

It IS an Octavia.....

Yeah it's an Octavia on the ACC display. In VWs it shows a golf. I imagine in seats it's always a Leon? There is a way to load different parameters as above, but you'd probably have to design the image of the superb yourself?

Have you noticed on the vehicle status screen on the infotainment, the cartoon car flashes its indicators when you use them? Completely pointless but amusing!

definitely shows an Octavia sedan on mine.......

Mine just shows a blank screen, well, a screen with an empty road ahead...

This will just change the mib display and not the actual maxidot/virtual cockpit display. On the instrument cluster there’s not exactly many options for it sadly

Wouldn’t say mine looks like an octavia? Looks more like a new bmw if I’m honest

thats exactly how a octavia 4 looks like from behind

My car doesn't have a virtual cockpit, sadly.. looks nice though. So i guess there might be a way to change it to golf or leon. I guess I will just leave it for now.

My Superb with VC just shows 2 parallel lines, they turn orange if you drift too far right or left, a useless display really as the little lane assist symbol turns orange too.

That's different.

On the pre-facelift, the little lane assist icon turns green when the lane guidance is active.  The cluster shows a solid orange line - as per the image below.

When the camera pics up only one side of the lane markings, the cluster shows a white colour on the side it can't detect, while the other one remains orange, and the icon remains green.

When none of the lane markings can b determined - the cluster shows solid white for sides and the icon turns amber.

Useful for when the cluster is not set to the Vehicle Assist screen.

I had mine show white lines, and green icon, at that point it seems it will keep you in lane, but not follow it, like it does when they are both orange, and the icon is green.. So i figure it has options to just keep you in lane, and also follow the lane when the markings are orange, and the icon green.. Or at least thats what it seems to do.. IDK if its right or not..

My understanding was white means it picks up the lane but is not actively doing anything / unable to assist because you're steering. Orange means it's picked up the lane and will center when you get too close. The lane assist icon goes green if at least one side is orange.

Next time i get either one or two white lines and green lane assist icon i will take a photo.. as that happens to me on a daily basis.. WIth white for me it only prevents exiting the lane, but will not steer to keep in middle..

I thought white meant it has picked up the lanes. Orange means you're driving to close to the line?

I would say no, at least from my experience, for me no lines means, obviously, not picked up, for white, for me it works as described, does jerk the wheel if you try to cross without signaling, but will not follow the lines on its own, and orange for me is that it will follow the lane..

I don't have the fancy active version, just the basic one, maybe there's a difference there?

I don't find it too obtrusive anyway, I was expecting to have to turn it off every journey, but it rarely kicks in
