Hi,

My Red Oil Pressure Light comes on when the car gets up to Running Temperature.

I have had a diagnostic test, Nothing

New Sensor,No Good,

Flush,Nope.

Sump off,checked,Pick up pipe,all ok.

New Oil Pump,Still comes on.

Any suggestions please?

 

 

 

 

May just be bearing wear. How many miles on the engine? What type of engine? Any signs of overheating?

 

1.6tdi. 93,000

No Overheating.

I have only driven it short distances,but apart from the light coming on it drives as if there's nothing wrong

Is it OK for a while after it gets fresh oil?

Just wondering about possible dilution of the oil with diesel. 

Had 4 Oil/Filter changes in the past,5 months.

No always the same,ok until it gets to running Tem.

light does not come on if I switch on and just idle it,but if I rev when hot,it comes on.

Yeah I think the pressure switch is ignored below a certain rpm, except when cranking. 1500 maybe.

What oil are you putting in it?

 

 

I'll get back to you on that,a local Garage put it in.

Probably not, unless they're using something quite inappropriate, but that seems unlikely.

 

So is this car a recent acquisition, or you've had it some time and this misbehaviour is recent?
