@Graham Butcher  Has there been an increase in Supermarket car parks or any car parks than has been common over the years and are these EV,s increasing the incidents?

Most reported in the past might or might not have been automatic cars and people more senior in years.

Those i read of seemed to be.

PS.

EV,s accelerators are really not like hair triggers or just need a light pressure to have them accelerating off into shop fronts or other vehicles.

Some people with disabilities as well as older drivers do surprisingly have slower reaction times, and in the case of some disabled drivers, one of their disabilities might be with their feet and or legs, not being as sensitive as they were once and hence could have pressed the throttle harder than they thought they had. I can suffer from similar problems as some shoes can transmit more feel through the soles to my feet than others. For instance I have 2 pairs of identical Skechers sneakers, 1 pair I wear everyday and the almost brand new in the box, still, only worn twice since 2022 for special occasions. When wearing these "new" ones, I tend to brake far sharper because of the lack of feel transmitted through the chunky soles, whereas just as old pair I use daily I can feel the pressure being applied to the pedal better and can pull up nice a smoothly as a result with out a jerk as the car finally comes to a halt.

Ouch, again.

We know it's all down to the time the power is needed.

That 5pm to 7pm is so expensive to supply, other times the UK will have excess.

The plan has to be to have a world wide network of power as solar increases by about a half every year.

Just need the perkosite panels to come to market and energy solved with a link to Morocco and other sunny places.

Radio silence on the Tesla in Edinburgh that needed the new battery.

Surprising since the driver and his partner have a Social Media presence and post on other stuff.

Maybe some non disclosure arrangement.

Lots of floods in and around the area and lots of Tesla but somehow not lots of reports of batteries needing replaced in Tesla.

Wasn't there a Tesla about a year ago that was also in a flood? I was wondering if he had looked an old article by mistake?

@Graham Butcher probably.

& How many TESLA are out and about everyday in rain and floods?

Let,s help keep him clothed and feed and living the life down under.

Salary sacrifice scheme seems to be up and running at work now.

Looking at the various options I think the ID7 is probably going to be slightly beyond my budget unfortunately though it's actually a lot closer than I expected.

Cupra Born looks fairly attractive but the Ford Explorer looks much better value at only slightly more expensive.

Does anyone have any experience or comments to make on it?

'Salary Sacrifice'  deserves a thread all of it,s own.

Agreed but it would depend upon what the salary was being sacrificed for.

Sacrifice to add to Pension is a lot different than sacrifice to purchase a car.

Obviously i meant a thread in this section on Salary Sacrifice regarding EV,s and not Push bikes, electric bikes etc.

But then that thread could go in some serious section.

Not in a thread or section on the Truths and untruths of Electric Cars.

If the twosome just stuck to facts and actualities and stopped the misinformation that gets posted.

It is the Payment of the Higher level of the mobility component of PIP that means you can qualify to LEASE a car from MOTABILITY. Using the money you get paid and can use for anything else and not getting a car.

Where is it just about old ladies, it is old or young men or women, and not only DISABLED, it can be a designated driver driving and the DISABLED person maybe can not drive.

Old ladies probably never started driving just when old, they might well have driven long before, decades before.

They will have had to qualify for DLA or PIP Mobility component before they reached 65 years old to be getting a car from MOTABILITY now. .

Rs FAULTY CARS,

Motability  (The RAC arrange) to get a car for you while the Lease Car is being repaired or pay for taxi,s or refund your payments.

Someone feeds the idea that Car Dealers are fined £20,000....

Only Volvo currently available.

£3,999 Advance payment and £75/75 a week, going to £29.20 a week in April.

Twin motor not available on the scheme.  Not being given, being leased.

Screenshot 2025-02-12 14.37.12.png

With that advanced payment some may prefer

@Stonekeeper what is your point.

People pay up to £8,000 in advance payments, and were paying £4,000 for EV MPV,s until recently where they are now under £1,000 and the Petrol version might be £3,000.

The companies are selling the cars cheap to Motability to help meet the figures.

Motability have not made the usual huge profits this past year as they are not getting the price at auction punting the 3 year old or younger EV,s.

Still Billions in the funds though held by the 4 major banks, as has been since 2008.  It was 6 banks then.

Motability are not forcing people to have evs which is what had been stated earlier.

Dealers maybe

@StonekeeperNot forcing. But really trying to appeal to the greed of many.

People go to get the best, highest priced car for the least money in many cases.

The number of luxury cars when there was even a £26,000 cap a few year back was unreal getting leased.

Have you been in to look at getting a Motability Lease vehicle?

There are total cowboys in Showrooms / Dealerships.

(& still Disabled People with the Benefits are pressured on conned by family or friends to get a car for them that the Disabled Person might never be in.

I have had lots of Motability cars, Leased, bought 2 with HP from Motability and traded since i was 18 years old in Ex Motability cars and have worked in dealerships and fitted hand contriols for disabled drivers.

Motability very much encourage, but give warnings. If you are not getting a Free Charger Installed you get BP Subscription for 3 years for charging.

That is s fiasco and not a cheap way to public charge,

Dealers Sales People can be an Issue.  It used to be a Trained Motability Specialist Sales person you dealt with.

Now some total muppets are filling in the Application for the new car @ Dealerships.

Sister in law at end of lease looking at another this week.

Told

"Has to be electric"

At dealership

@Stonekeeper I hope she tells whoever they are a shyster & go get the manager.

More need to be telling MOTABILITY what is happening at dealerships.

The Call Handlers at Motability are great and you can tell them.  You can write to Motabilities 'Lifestyle Magazine'  and not get your letter printed.

It is The Senior Management that are Deaf Dumb and Blind over the issues with Customers getting steered to totally unsuitable cars at Official Motability Dealerships.

Time that MP,s and the Transport Committee and who ever else in Government that have been involved in the investigations into Motability were looking closer.

Criteria, as can be seen from front screen below, Decent ie 200 mile plus reported range, not silly mileage and under £12K

Putting what you are saying here and what my SIL has told my missus, i think i can come to the conclusion that what she meant to tell us was that to get the car she wants for the advanced payment she is prepared to pay "It has to be electric"
