OCTAVIA NX front grill

Featured Replies

Hello from Greece. I would like some help please. I have one Octavia NX mod:2021 as you can see at the photo but I can't change the front grill. You must take off the front bumper or there is any other trick to take it off? Thanks.

I would like to know that too. Want to paint it or swap it black.

I bought a new one which is black and I can't take off the old nickel. Nobody know. Most told me that you must take off the bumper.. I don't think so it is correct.

Nobody??? Any help before I break it??

I'm pretty sure you need to take off the bumper.

I am sure I watched a video on how to do this a couple of months ago but I can’t find it now at all, sorry.
If you figure out how to do it please share!

I've changed a few grills on different cars over the years. They usually have obvious fixings at the top and hidden fittings near the bottom. The usual method it to remove the top fixings and then just pull up gently to unlock the bottom fixings.

I wouldn't have thought that the bumper would need removing, as that would require a reset of the parking sensors etc! Mind you, look at how many small (read cheap) cars need the bumper removing to change a headlamp bulb!!!

It would be interesting to know though, as I want to tinker when my car finally arrives!

Skoda grilles & grille surrounds do not work like that, they clip into and through each other into the bumper moulding which without them would be too floppy for one person to attach to the vehicle.

Like most plastic clip together things they are made for ease of assembly and only come apart with great difficulty, the outer bezel usually snaps in the process.

Mine having already been ond and off a couple of times losing its virginity in effect and me now being experienced with the job I reckon I could at a pinch get it off with the bumper remaining in situ, probably breaking the surround in the process, bumper removal on my facelift model is a real pain due to the stupid design of one of the headlight retaining bolts, nonetheless I would choose to go through that when I next remove the grille because the black paint job I did on the surround has flaked off in several areas.

I can imagine exactly how you describe.

If I remember rightly the lower part of the upper front grill on a Mk2 BMW Mini fitted In a similar fashion. There was just enough flex to get a flat bar down inside the grill and depress the tongue to remove! At least you can unscrew the top on that one!

That's a real pain in the ∆£$€! 😐

Looks like @J.R. is right - have a look at this post about the front grill of the MK3:

If you have the patience to read all the posts there, it seems that most agree that the entire front bumper needs to be removed to safely "unclip" the frame of the grill.
