random flashing D

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 Octavia MK2 VRS FL and six months ago, i had a gearbox failure. Workshop determine the best course of action would be to get a used replacement gearbox which i did.

The replacement DSG6 gearbox was off a Skoda Superb. No issues with the installation and adapting the gearbox to  the car. It was fine for about a month and then i got a flashing D error on the dash when i was slowing down to a traffic junction.  Car felt like it was in first gear only and i was able to limp to the side and when i turn off the car and restarted. The error when away and i was able to drive normally.

The workshop felt it was the mechatronic unit and replace it .  It was fine for another week before i got the same flashing D error again and this time workshop replace it again under warranty.   This time round, it was fine for couple of weeks before i encounter the flashing D error again and this time round, workshop thought it can't be 3 different mechatronic were faulty.

When we scan the car, there errors : Lost communication with TCM - U0101 , Transm.Contr.System Range/ - P0701.

We suspected the ECU which we remove and send it off for diagnosis but it came back a clean bill of health. we also replace the canbus gateway and i drove for a week before the flashing D error came back but this time only error was P0701.

Has anyone else encounter similar issue or can point me in a direction of what could be the issue causing this?

With that kind of luck I'd be looking at something else like bad wiring/connectors.

I have no direct experience of DSG workings but it sounds like whatever your workshop did they didn't fix the root cause of the fault, just replaced parts until the next failure, possibly due to intermittent electricals with vibration.

We look at the connectors and all look okay. My thoughts is it could be a coding issue?
