Windscreen swap issue

Featured Replies

My 2012 1.6tdi Yeti had a windscreen 2 weeks ago, all appeared to go ok, I watched the process and it all went smoothly.

Yesterday I vacuumed the car and was gobsmacked to find soaking wet carpets! The water appears to be coming down the offside of the accelerator pedal.

I've never had wet carpets before, before I call Autoglass is there anything else that may have been displaced that would cause the leak?

Does yours have a sunroof as they are prone to leaking

No sunroof, it's an S model.

Couldn't be leaking in through the Plenum Chamber like it does on the Fabia? I'm not sure if there's a design on the Yeti that prevents this, but it's just a consideration.

Good luck with your problem, I hope you find a solution. :)

Perhaps the screenfitters didn't connect the washer pipe correctly?

I know my windscreen wiper trough is full of dead leaves  and one

roof rail has pigeon poo in a neat line below it.

I would not delay, esp at this time being close to Christmas, get the fitters back out explaining nicely that there was no leak before the replacement and they need to rectify the issue as your car is now being damaged by a leak.

Hi

I agree with TruckbusUK.

You have had the car 9 years without a leak, then you have had a new windscreen, and almost straight away you have a leak

Even a tiny gap/hole will allow water to work its way in

Get them back but make sure they cannot point to another cause and worm their way out of responsibility.

Were there to be another cause then pointing it out would not be worming out of their responsabilities.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will get the chance for a proper look this weekend.

I have noticed that the rubber trim where the A pillar cover meets the edge of the scuttle cover are missing, they look like they have been torn off - I need to look at our other Yeti closely to see if this is significant. I'll take some photos to illustrate.

In the meantime I have some Gorilla waterproof tape in situ protecting the bottom of the screen.
