2 years old/servicing

Hi

My 2yrs old Octavia 1.0 dsg is due an oil change and inspection service.  Should I book into a Skoda garage or just go to a local reliable garage.  Will this affect warranty? I don’t want to pay more than required as would think this would be a simple service?  Car has done I think around 12,000 miles only

thanks

Skoda is around £185 from memory.

Providing you use spec approved oil and an OEM filter, you will have no warranty issues.
I think there is an option on the oil, either 5W30 (VW504.00 VW507.00) or 5W40 (VW502.00 VW505.00) depending on your service interval.

The filter is around £6, a decent brand of approved oil will set you back £30-40 and a sump plug is going to be a few quid.... £50/60 parts and £30 to your local garage to do the job.
The only thing to consider is having your service information updated, a lot of the VAG service plans are online now so you may want to find a garage that can update it, unless of course, you are happy with an invoice.

Do you own the car or is it on lease? Being handed back.

The Factory oil was VW508 00,

which is 0w 20 FS IV.

You could go to VW504 00 which will be 5w 30 FS III or maybe 0w 30 FS III.

That is not the Skoda / VW Recommended oil for a 2019 1.0 TSI with GPF.

You need to check what Henrys or whoever are wanting to charge.

Also ask if they are using VW508 00 or VW504 00

I Recommend that you 'Do not use Arnold Clark or Park's.'

Which reliable Glasgow in or near Glasgow would you use?

It does require the Oil & Filter & Inspection Service.

Also the Pollen Filter but i would not pay a main dealer £45 for the pollen filter if you can change that and tell them.

Be sure if at a Main Dealership they leave the Next Service as being on Variable / Flexible if you want that so 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles.

& not leave an 'Inspection showing'  in 12 months.

The thing is.

A Main Dealer Service now will have and Software or Updates carried out.

A Body Inspection should be getting done that has the Paint & Corrosion Warranty Valid.

The Service will be carried out and on the Skoda System.

.............................

Will you want to have a service done in a year will you not before the Warranty Expires and have a 13 month MOT done a month before the Warranty expires and any warranty work done if there is any.

I would.

I own the car, it’s a petrol dsg 1.0 plate 19…..very happy with it it and for me surprised how nippy for a large 1.0 car.
Thanks for info,  may go to Hendrys Glasgow city centre? I am not going to Arnold Clark’s.  Are there any other approved Skoda garages in Glasgow….not sure?
