Cost of Factory Options

Featured Replies

Hi All.

A few weeks ago my Octavia vRS was unfortunately written off in an accident. I'm now dealing with the insurance on agreeing a valuation of the car. They've asked me to give them a breakdown of the options on the vehicle and their associated costs. My car had quite a few options on it, the service department of my local dealer has sent me the following:

Is anyone available to give me an idea on the costs of the extra cost options?

Many thanks in advance...

I have the October 2015 Skoda Uk pricelist/brochure & the costs are as follows for a vRS

Metallic and pearl effect colours £360

CANTON sound system £500

Acoustic front and rear parking sensors £350

Rear-view parking camera £300

Temporary space saver spare wheel (for 17" or 18" wheels) £100

Black design package "plus". Includes black design package, 19inch Xtreme alloys, sunset glass, colour Maxi-dot trip computer. £750 for a hatch, £800 for the estate

Cornering front fog lamps £105

Most of the other stuff appears to be standard fit. But your car is a 2018 & this list is October 2015, but hopefully it gives you an idea.

Many thanks for this, it really helps.

I've attached a Nov 2017 brochure with a Jan 2018 pricelist: octavia.pdf

Based on that, I'd guess at:

                                            ex-VAT inc-VAT
[K1K1] Velvet red metallic £604.17 £725.00
[RA3] CANTON sound system £420.83 £505.00
[KA2] Rear-view parking camera £316.67 £380.00
[PJC] Temporary space saver spare wheel £87.50 £105.00

[7X2] Front and rear parking sensors £295.83 £355.00
[WUB] Black design package plus £612.50 £735.00

However, if your car was a 245 'edition' the standard spec included parking sensors and black design package plus along with heated seats, folding wing mirrors etc...

Also check out used prices for similar cars as prices are at an all time high right now. My local dealers Henrys in Glasgow have got two VRS models of a similar age for sale just now:

 https://www.henrys-cars.com/skoda/used-cars?location_id=117964&used_car_sorting=&layout=&limit=&brand_name=Škoda&used_models=Octavia&min_price=&max_price=&variant_name=&engine_size=&transmission=&monthly_payment=

The insurance company have been somewhat 'difficult' to deal with regarding the valuation. First of all they wanted the list of options, then they wanted the prices, then the list of options had to come from a Skoda dealer. They also wanted me to provide examples of used vehicles that were the same mileage and spec as my car. Given the current used car market, that equivalent car doesn't exist. What I could prove was for what they were offering I could only buy a basic spec vRS with much higher mileage. Anything with a spec approaching mine had far less mileage. It has taken a lot of calls and finally a conversation with the assessor to actually agree some common sense. They have now, finally, offered a settlement value which is fair, and that's all I wanted, but it took a long time to get there.
