Now, I'm not sure it's meant to do that...

I wonder if your heater matrix is leaking ? This happened me a few years ago and I diagnosed it by bypassing it under the bonnet... It was absolutely baltic in the car so I had to wrap up but no steamy windows ...!

I got a cheap matrix off Euro carparts and its still only tepid... It was a lot of stripping but thanks to this forum I managed it myself

I still have only a tepid heater but I just got over myself but at least the steam isn't too bad !!

I'm not sure as my heater would bleedin' well roast you in seconds. My air conditioning is pretty poor but I know it's needing a recharge as it gradually died over the summer there.

Worth doing even this time of year, because AC is also an air drying system.

I'll get it done at some point. Just need to wait for time and/or funds allow for such a thing. :giggle:

Only in hot humid weather Ken, in the winter the evaporator isn't doing anything.

Same on mine. I have heard people say that the heater sometimes isn't as good on diesel models.

I wouldn't know, I don't know the guy down the street with the black Ambiente TDI enough to ask him. Haha.

The heater gets pretty scorchio.jpg.a371c986af00082e90fcf4e69e30690c.jpg by the time I travel the mile or so to leave the village... :giggle:

Fact of life. Diesel vehicles only heat up when working. Get a diesel up to running temperature and then stop it with the heater on and watch the temperature gauge drop. Before retirement, I worked for a rail company. We'd often end up at night on a standby role. (i.e. we'd turn up, wait while work was performed in case some signalling kit was damaged). During the waiting time, we found a corner, got the van heated up and slept, but we knew not to turn the heater up too far as the engine would cool down.

In my car, the heater is excellent, but only after a trip of more than a few miles.

But a thought for Pentium. Do you leave the dog/dogs in the car for a while? I've got a small dog(JRT/cairn X), We often leave her in car whilst at supermarket to come out and find the inside steamed up especially if the grass is damp.

I tend not to leave my Spaniel in the car since he'll bark at folk passing by. Only time he's ever in the car is when we're going somewhere for a walk or the vets.

I know about how he steams up the car though, my German Shepherd used to do it, but he also used to lick the windows too... :D

So that's where you learned how to do it!

I've got same problem ( barking) with my little cross. She's a rescue, and hates women of a certain look. She does not lick windows, just makes them mucky.

Took the blanket out of the back and into the boot to use as and when required for the dog travelling in the car. Windscreen didn't freeze today during the massive cold spell so things seem better. :)
