P2015 code😡

Featured Replies

Hi folks.i know this subject has been covered on numerous occasions but my question is does anybody know if my octy vrs tdi 2011 has a plastic manifold or will it be the aluminium one? I have the eml light on with the p2015 fault code and I know there is a bracket you can buy for the plastic arm thingy that brings the light on in the first place, but I’ve been told if my car has the plastic mani then it becomes a harder job for the bracket to be put on in the first place. Sorry my description isn’t the best!

There are 2 different brackets. If its for the plastic manifold, the bracket fits on the rear so you need to struggle to get the bolts out/in or take the manifold off. It's a plastic manifold on my 2010 VRS diesel. I had the same error but luckily it cleared when I changed the battery. Seems to have been a spurious failing battery fault.

I actually had to change my battery in November so unfortunately for me the light does still come on which is annoying to say the least! And knowing my luck mine will have the plastic manifold, a garage last wk wanted upwards of £800 to change the manifold plus labour and wouldn’t hear anything less other than doing that!

The brackets are a tenner or less. I think you can get into the motor bolts with a Bahco mini/slim socket set. There was a forum post or YouTube video. Get a set of small locking forceps to grip the return spring so you don't drop it.

If it’s the plastic manifold I understand u have to take it of to do? If it’s the aluminium one it’s a simple job a few bolts? I will try post a pic Lata of the manifold so hopefully someone can tell me what one I have!

its definitely plastic, you need the plastic mani bracket as its slightly shorter, if you're doing it yourself you're looking at a few hours, need to remove fuel lines, brackets, connections, mani comes off with egr and throttle attached, 1st time it took me around 3 hours, 2nd time less than 2, trying to do it with mini socket set was a ball ache, tried on mates car wasted around an hour, didn't get anywhere so just removed mani another 2 hours

i got few quotes myself it was between 700 to 1100, skoda wanted over 1200, this is with mani and motor

if you're doing it yourself dont forget new mani gasket around 15 quid for genuine

Hi mate thanks for reply.  Dame that’s a pain in the a*** I was hoping it was gonna be the aluminium for obvious reasons. My mechanical skills are ltd so will be a garage job or if anybody who lives in the reading area and fancies earning them self’s a few beer tokens more than welcome!

Just wondering if anyone knows of an easier way to do this having the plastic manifold? Does the manifold have to come off and the fuel lines surely there is a short cut?!😩

I saw a post somewhere and they used a Bahco slim ratchet set to get into the bolts without taking the manifold off.

Ah ok sorted, got somebody doing it hopefully next week so hopefully he can do it that way rather than mani having to come off

Evening folks. So just an update on the above topic. Earlier my mechanic got my manifold off to attach the bracket which I was hoping to solve the p2015 fault code, unfortunately he showed me that mani has 2 cracks in it so now I am looking at a new one. My question is has anyone had a pattern mani fitted and if so what do u think? Thank u guys👍

yes i fitted one to mine it started leaking (warped) and the motor lasted a few weeks, i paid around 130 for it,

Sounds like one to avoid then mate, better go for Oem. It’s probably why I had noticed some days a slight lack in power perhaps

hmm interesting, my mates vrs is the same, some days it feels on point and some days its kind of slow,

mine felt sluggish hence the reason for mani change, dont know what it was its sorted itself out,

i ended putting the original back on as it was in very good condition and stuck a new genuine gasket and bracket, its been a while now no issues 🤞 🤞 🤞

you can get genuine refurb from ebay uk from germany £120

while the mani is off give the egr and throttle a good clean

Yeah some days mine went off like a scolded cat other days felt like it had lost 30hp. I’ve seen the ones you are on about but again I wasn’t sure on the refurb ones as I suppose you never know. Mind you it’s better than the £1000 I was quoted for a new mani and labour!

My new mani will be here next wk got a good deal from Skoda I paid £484! So hopefully my octy will b back on the road by Thursday/Friday 👍

  • 3 weeks later...

Mine has come up with the error again. Car runs fine but EML is on. I will try clearing it again but may need to try putting the bracket on it and maybe replace the manifold if required.

Is there a good how to for taking the plastic manifold off and refitting?

Cheers

Dave

Hi mate. My mechanic had to take the fuel lines off and there was a nut on mine that had seized so it took him a bit longer gettin it off, putting it bk on again was quicker so not really a short cut I’m afraid. I was turning my light off every day depending how much I was using the car. I have a bracket if you are local I’m in reading
