iPhone 12 - recommend me a case

Featured Replies

My trust SE decided to retire it's battery recently.  It was okay for a couple of days, unless you used it, in which case it bombed and once it dropped to 50%, then that was game over.

In the post today arrived its replacement.  Quite scary how quickly and seamlessly everything transferred over from old to the new.

I think I should get it a protective case.  I can do all the research online as to the 'best' case, but I'd be interested in any personal recommendations.  Everything from don't bother, to best ever, and in between.

The only thing I'm not really interested in is silicon.

TIA for any comments or advice.

+1 on this. Had one with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and it kept it from shattering on many occasions, the one I had was padded in the corners too, nifty little feature really. It was only when it was out the case ONCE that I broke it! :D

I forgot to reply earlier but I had a silicone case on a Samsung Galaxy S2 and its only redeeming feature was that I could turn the case inside out when I felt bored. :D

Just make sure it's got a front cover. The rest is more to do with aesthetics

I also +1 this. A "wallet style" case is an ideal choice for protecting the front of your phone properly. Add a screen protector too and you're fine and dandy. :)

I have a Spigen geo armour 360 on my daughters 12 and my 13. Works very well for touch and protects the entire phone, screen and all. Highly recommended.

Dunno if they do 'em for iPhones, but Otterbox cases have always been my preference. They always get the best reviews in terms of protection, although the high end ones are a little bulky.

They still do them, and they were my cover of choice for years on my old iPhone 7. They have stopped doing a full cover with an incorporated screen cover. Most have an open front and you fit a screen protector. They have a wallet type cover now, but the clasp is rather cheaply made and breaks very easily. I gave up having them replaced eventually and moved to the spigen for my wife’s phone as well.

On all my iPhones from 7 to 12 Pro I've always used a clear silicone case plus a Gorilla glass screen protector - dropped them several times over the years and never had any screen damage.

I was somewhat wary of Spigen, based on how often I saw them either peeling, and/or cracking around the camera cut-out on their S21 series.

Most cases seem open-fronted now, to allow for curved screens.
