Driving modes

Featured Replies

Why does thew driving mode always revert to normal when the ignition goes on and off? Is there a way to keep it at a specific setting?

I’m sure the reason that always been given or suggested is emissions. I also believe there is no way to change the behaviour. Unless you buy an older model. My 2017 model keeps the selected driving mode.

Damnit!

My 2016 stays in the mode selected, it doesn't revert back to normal each time I drive it.

Just on a side point, I've been using ECO mode for a while, but just recently gone to NORMAL, car drives alot nicer and smoother.

The software change to revert back to normal came in later than 2016, IIRC it was around the time the facelift Mk3 came out?

+1

Mine is a FL and it retains mode... or at least appears to show it has retained mode.  If I leave it in eco,  when I restart next journey even though it reflects as in eco the coasting mode does not engage unless swap out of eco and back again.

I think it coincided with the change from NEDC to WLTP emissions testing, which became mandatory in September 2018.

As a result I suspect (but don't know) that cars built to MY19 spec (July 2018 build dates onwards IIRC), probably adjusted the behaviour.
