Skoda Octavia Scout - Problems with WLAN, Skoda Connect and connecting to the Internet

Featured Replies

HI everyone,

Firstly I want to say this forum is awesome and thank you everyone for being so helpful in providing and sharing information for Skoda users.

I have just bought a Skoda Octavia Scout Diesel Estate 2.0 TDI 184PS 4x4 DSG auto 68 plate, I love the features on the car and am looking forward to seeing how it performs in the next few months and years.

I am having a problem with getting Skoda WLAN and Skoda Connect to connect to the internet. I appreciate that this question has been asked many, many times and I have searched through this forum and none of the recommended solutions work for me.

I registered my details on the Skoda website (twice), downloaded the Skoda app and when I login to the app it wants me to become the vehicle's primary user and enter a code in the cars infotainment system.

I have connected the car via WLAN to my mobile phone hotspot then every time I go to the registration page type in the number I get the message No data link available. Please try again later.

I am on EE and I have also tried this using my partners mobile which is on 3 with the same result.

If I connect to the home wi-fi then I get the message: Checking online service information... This may take a few minutes. Press the "OK" button to leave the checks running in the background. I have left this running for over 30 minutes with no change to the message.

I have done the factory reset on the Octavia several times both the full factory reset and resetting the WLAN and Skoda Connect. I have reregistered the Skoda App on the portal to a different email address and given it every permission it has asked for.

I am hoping that someone here can help.

My infotainment system information is:

Hi all,

I want to thank @pab567 for providing me with the latest version of the firmware.

Thank you.

Hi @maz1960

I am having the same issue on my Octavia running firmware: 480 since mid-January.

Did you manage to reconnect to Skoda connect after your updated your firmware?

Thanks.

Hi Thygesen,

The update to firmware 480 didn't fix the problem.

I bought a used car I am wondering if Skoda have to allow me to become the legal owner of the car and allow me access to Skoda Connect, so I have sent Skoda an email asking for their help and advice, as soon as I get a reply I will update this thread.

Cheers

Maz

It will be interesting to hear what the latest thoughts are on this, as my mobile is on EE and I can't get it working at all either. I've previously read through the great stuff on here, but came to the conclusion I'm stuffed with EE.

Hi ScottyNS

I am not sure that any network other than Vodafone is any better, but other people on this forum are more likely to have a better answer.

I have tried using Skoda Connect with a Vodafone mobile hotspot and also 3 and Plusnet (part of BT which I believe uses the EE network) mobile hotspots.

The only one that seems to connect to data services is the Vodafone mobile hotspot (no surprise there as they are the recommended network from Skoda) or my home wi-fi,

if I connect to the other hotspots all I keep getting is the error message, No data link available, please try later.

Cheers,

Maz

I did try my home wifi but the range isn't long enough - having said that, I might give it a go at the in-laws as their Wifi has a ridiculous range. Thanks for reminding about that option :)

I'm not sure if I am bothered enough to get a Vodafone sim just for this - time will tell. Happy hunting for a solution!

Hi SottyNS,

Good luck with the home wi-fi, let us know how you get on.
