Speaker wire routes.

Featured Replies

Ok so started messing around with speakers and such to get a better sound quality going.

Ive soft wired everything up now and must admit the sound quality in my furbie sounds awesome now so to the question.

Ive used the wires from the rear door tweeters which are totally useless to add another set of speakers onto my real parcel shelf old school style lol :)

I need to hide the wires now and was wondering once I pull the tweeter wires back through the rear door bellows do the rear speaker wires then run under the trim in the cockpit if so then I can do the same with these new wires to get them to the same place as the other rear speaker wires are ???

Right little update ive got the trim pieces removed and im at the speaker wire connections so I need the wires on the middle plug to connect to but cannot for the life of me get this plug to unplug, is there some sort of catch or something so I can release this plug as I dont want to force anything and I have very little spare wire to play with on these.20220125_150344.thumb.jpg.577f2f218c5c0ff43caf54eb986efa9c.jpg

I think firstly you'd have to remove the plug(s) from the front of that B-pillar connector station at the bellows as they will be locked into those rear bits and won't let them come out. Then there must be some kind of clips to get the rear sockets out.

Front of B-pillar connector station...

I think to relase the rear sockets once the plugs are out you probably do it from the front with a small screwdriver to release the cut-outs in the sockets from snap catches in the black cage housing.

Like this....

There will be locking tags like these in the cage.....

Probably be a lot easier if you could just tap into the wires in situ rather than disturbing the plugs/sockets.

I got it disconnected other side already figured it was some sort of latch that pic has clarified it thanks mate reckon a slim electrical screw driver both sides should release it like doing stereo. Thanks bud 👍

Should be able to release the locking tabs by poking a screwdriver in the socket slots and pressing the tabs with it.

Front shown here but should be similar....

Used the metal prongs that you slip the stereo out with and the plug slips straight off then :)

When I did mine I only had to remove the trim at the back of the headliner, then I was able to reach between the headliner and the roof to undo the aerial base.

That is the signal amplifier without that the signals will be almost unreadable On the PCG is a springy finger that is the contact to the actual aerial rod on my old Octy that was corroded and so was the contact point on the aerial rod once cleaned up it all came good.

The other thing is are you running with an OEM radio ? if not the aerial amp will not be getting any power so it wont work you need something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324304371984?hash=item4b820c0110:g:85kAAMXQgyZR-u~N to inject a 12v supply up the aerial feeder to power the amp.

He's already fitted one of those but had no joy, hence fittting a new aerial base.

yep thats my connector mate thats what I need I found out by buying a complete aerial and base from halfrauds and decided to open the base up and no circuit so that went back then looked into a couple online and thay were both the same no circuit to them so looks like what youve posted up is what im in needf of :)

Have you proved with a multimeter that 12v is available at the roof aerial connection ?
