what oil

Featured Replies

Could anybody advise me on what what oil I should use for a oil change on my Octavia 1.9 TDI Diesel whilst in warranty they told me that they was useing castral fully synthetic

which means that it would only need a 20.000 mile service

for 10.000 mile service semi synthetic.

Castral at

What TDi engine is it?

The 20k servicing is variable and needs the better oil to run the distance.

Your choice, cheaper more frequent services, or lesser more expensive ones.

I'd be interested in this one too.. my parents TDi 110 needs an oil change soon (we're reasonably sure the dealer didn't do it when they said they did). I think my dad found there's 2 different grades listed? He wasn't sure which to buy.

I used SLX Longlife II for top ups and this time around the dealer put Mobil 1 ESP in the car.

One of the 5-30 castrol Edge things replaces SLX longlife II.

(Mine is a 110TDI)

I think it's a PD engine in which case you need a PD oil.

Plenty on my site and discounted to Briskoda Members, don't pay silly prices look in the Members Section of http://www.opieoils.co.uk

check in your area for Lucas Oil products (not to be confused with lucas brakes or

electrics of uk) they exceed all european / american standards for vw and every

other company for that matter,

there regarded as americas finest engine oils but are not yet well known this

side of the water, comes in 0w30 5w30 5w40 all exceed longlife vw specs for

diesel / petrol and resale for about £28-32 for 5litre not 4 from castrol ect

If std for car is 505.01 there 10w40 semi exceeds this std and sells for about £15-

16 if your on fixed service.

(If in dunfermline try Essport they'll give you a wee discount)

www.Lucasoil.com for more info

If cant get this try millers oil also very good/ or valvoline
