MIB2std updated from 0241 to 0478. Aswell as adding the newer type menu, this software update allows the use of a later display with "app" button & also allows units with MOST (fibre-optic) to function with a virtual cockpit. It also functions compatability improvements & bug fixes.

Completely error free, as it always should be.

Hi. This is my build and software on a mib2 octavia 2016. What is involved if I want to update to the new menu system and how much would a DIY job be.

We can carry out the update remotely however you'll need OBDeleven or similar to enable developer mode on the infotainment unit

Alternatively you can post the glovebox radio unit to us. The car is still driveable with it removed

It's £32.49 for the update

It's not the security login that's not doable with VCDS

VCDS doesn't allow you to change the diagnostic session to engineering mode, to allow you to enable the developer menu. Seems this isn't necessary on all units though 👀

Ross-tech added S12345 as a special login to allow engineering mode on certain 5F units :)

It's mentioned in the thread I linked

Hi, attached photo of my current unit. Thinking of upgrading display at some point and would like to upgrade to the 0478 version. Can you advise process please? Also, is it possible for you to activate SmartLink? I do have an OBDeleven? Many thanks.

You need a PC/laptop with an SD reader and an internet connection.

You need TeamViewer installed (it's free to install)

You'll also need an SD card larger than 4GB, ideally class 10

Yes it can be activated on that unit

Does it stop your screen going mental. My screen when it's cold does all sorts of **** changes radio stations dials people from my contacts. Nightmare.

Unfortunately that's a characteristic of the touch screen technology they decided to use 😓

@East_Yorkshire_Retrofits great work with the retrofits so far.

Is this possible on the following Amundsen system?

Part Number: 5Q0035874B

Hardware: H31

Software Version: 0366

This is fitted to a Mk3 FL Octavia.

If so do the colour changes apply to the Maxidot also?

Yes it's possible on that unit

The infotainment system doesn't affect the instrument cluster display format

@East_Yorkshire_Retrofits ok, thanks for clarifying.

Do you know what would be required in order for this to work?

On the later FL models changing the ambient lighting on the infotainment would also change the maxidot and door lights to match.

Unfortunately, due to it being an early FL car, I am only able to change the lighting on the doors. From the pictures posted above it looks as if the infotainment changes colour to match too, that’d be half my problem solved.

Can you confirm that this is the case?

Hey, I have the following unit with developer mode unlocked:

image.png.b99a10f49bf41bee4edf0661793a6af8.png

I have an SD card and would like to know if it's possible to update to the 04xx train on this unit? It has a MOST connector so assume it will later support a Virtual Cockpit.

Thanks,
Paul.
