Upgraded rear anti roll bar

Featured Replies

Just a heads up. If anyone is in the market for an upgrade on their rear anti roll bar. Darkside have genuine VW Golf Clubsport ones for £84, including the bushes and brackets. They have a limited number at that price and yes I did make a purchase 👍

Would my VRS already have an uprated ARB?

Is that one better than other aftermarket ARB's?

No the VRS has a smaller one as standard.

It is not as big as others but it is a lot cheaper and a good oem upgrade.

Are these easy enough to fit?

Very easy to fit. I havent done mine yet but have fitted arbs before.

I am potentially interested in a suspension upgrade.

How do I find out what ARB or even what type of rear suspension I have?

You have a sel so probably torsion beam rear axle. With the 2.0 you may have 55mm front shocks instead of 50mm like on the less powerful models.

Plenty options for upgrade. If you have torsion beam you won't have a rear roll bar. Upgraded shocks and springs will do 90% of the work a roll bar would do anyway.

How is the ride comfort after stiffer ARB?

just a question with these. Is this a 'socket set and ramps' job, or will I run into trouble attempting this at home?

Did it myself on stands but you'll want a dry floor as it was easier for me to chuck tools under and slide about rather than in-out on each side. You may get so far with wheels off too but some clambering is needed.

Yeah I whether I would get by reversing my car up on to my workshop ramps and doing it that way. Don't really enjoy working on the car on axel stands if I can help it

Not sure you would have the space to get the old bar out and new one in without the wheels dropped. There was barely enough with mine and stands and it's stock height.
