starter motor hanging on... again!

Featured Replies

About 6 months ago my starter motor was hanging on so I got it changed by skoda. Now in the last couple of days on cold starts the new one seems to be doing the same. Could it be the bad rain we are having that has got into the starter or is it just likely to be a duff motor that hasnt lasted very well? whats your thoughts? should I just go straight back to the garage and complain without a second thought?

Anyone else had problems with starter motors dying so quickly? Is it just a regular 'thing' with octy's that the starter motors always stick?

mine does the same. I would go back to skoda, because they should have a fitted part warranty. Most places its 12 months.

Apparently it's common on all of the 1.8T's

Mine has done it about once a week for the last 18 months. Especially bad in the winter - not caused any problems yet though (I guess it'll die and leave the car stranded somewhere eventually though)

I just would have thought (or at least hoped!) that a new motor would have not started doing this within 6 months though... sigh.... when will my car ever give me the confidence that it will be reliable???

Back to dealers they guarantee the work for 12 months iirc

starter motor is now behaving over the last 2 days on a cold start... ridiculous!

Still go back and say something while you can.

Mine hasnt done it recently either - it must be the weather.

took it back, they had a listen, and it didnt do it.... and its still not doing it anymore! Will wait until it starts up again when the weather gets colder, and then take it back. sure the car is trying to send me mad...
