After owning three Octavias in a row I switched to a Kamiq SEL 1.5 dsg. Now thinking about trading it in and ordering an Octavia MK4 SEL 1.5 DSG.

I just miss the space even if it's not necessary.

Trade in price is good and on a PCP the extra monthly cost is fairly small.

Problem is the delivery time is up to 12 months!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Not in the same boat, but what about getting a 6 month old dealer demo car? It’s about now that most refresh their cars so should be a good supply (my local dealer has two, but the wrong end of the country!).

The phrase "caveat emptor" springs to mind in regard to the Mk4.

You’re right - though I would say that after 11 months of ownership (and a fair few updates) I am a lot more confident in the Mk4 than I was after 1 month.

My thinking is that by time car is built the majority of faults will be fixed.

That's in regards to a second hand one or FE one, not a factory fresh one.

Good point/question!

Mine is the SEL FE, and that is what I was referring to in that comment. The loan car I had for 20 weeks whilst the FE was being fixed was faultless - that was an SE FE, built several months later but with less of the [flakey - aka bug-ridden] technology such as ACC.

Impression I get is that the later the build the more robust the tech - with the exception of those that seem to be missing the wifi module.
