Are you dipping the oil when hot. Indicated 90 c ? My Son stays in Penicuik and my grandchildren so knows your trip.

No checked it when cold.

Checked when cold lets you know there is enough oil. But it is not how the engines other than a 1.2 44 kW VW engine is checked.
