01274 Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) - unresolved issue

Featured Replies

Hello,
I own a 2009 Škoda Fabia 1.4 TDI. Even with the purchase there is an error in the climatronics -

01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)

000 --- Intermittent

I replaced the recirculation motor, but the error remained. I bought another one, but it didn't work out either. I bought them second hand - according to the sellers working. I have VCDS, read Auto HVAC in Measuring Blocks: Potentiometer G113 116.0 specified (with the recirculation valve switched on), 17.0 (with the recirculation valve switched on), while the value of actual remains the same (16.0). When installing the other two motors, values of specified are (114.0 and 113.0), but value of actual are constant 10.0 and 12.0

I apologize for my English. I guess the problem is with the wiring or in the climate control module. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Thanks!

Have you performed "basic settings" using VCDS? As well as lining up the "new" motor assemblies racks correctly with the recirc levers racks?

Yes. Every time I installed a motor, I returned it basic settings. I will attach a video tomorrow to see how I measure them.

One of the more common failures in Fabias, so chances of getting a working one secondhand quite low in my opinion.

Is it possible that both motors do not work?

I know there is no guarantee that they work.

Actually, hang on, recirculation motor is V154 isn't it? Have you replaced the right thing? Photo?

No, V71 air recirculation motor. Tomorrow I will attach a picture of the motor.

Where is the one you're changing? In the middle of the car or at the end of the dashboard? Recirculation motor is at end of dashboard, V71 is near centreline, I think?

At the end of the dashboard on the right. V71 is motor. 100%.

I think you may be wrong. V71 varies the ratio of cold/hot air in the heart of the system, not the external/internal air source selection, I think.

I'm wrong too. V68 is the temperature flap motor. V71 is the one on climatronic systems that does vent selection.

I'm more wrong than I thought. Can't see V154 on Climatronic wiring diagram, only Climatic version, so you're probably right that it's called V71 in Climatronic, strangely.

Still reckon two dead secondhand motors is very possible.

Can I test them in any way if they work? There are a total of 5 pins in the socket.

These are the three motors.

Well ETKA confirms that I was 100% wrong about you changing the wrong thing, item 15, clearly described as V71, clearly described as recirc motor: evaporator housing; air distribution housing; evap... - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2012 year] (7zap.com)

Apologies for my confusion.

As far as testing used motors, I can't suggest much beyond what you've tried, fit and test.

Can I test them manually? Through pin 1 + 5V and pin 3 ground. With a small scooter battery.

Of course you can, they're not stepper motors, just cheap DC motors.

Update: It turned out that the pins are 5 and 6. Two of the motors are working and one is not working. So the problem is not in them. I guess there is a broken cable somewhere or the problem is in the climate control module (although when you press the recirculation button, the potentiometer G113 does not remain a constant value, so it accepts the command to press the button in my opinion).

Possibly some worn areas on the potentiometers such that the position signal is unreliable.
