Hi folks, wherever I set the heat control it is always hot. Any thoughts?

My heater control is dodgy, sometimes max heat, sometimes freezing, a vigorous turning the knob back and forth will sometimes make it settle on a set temperature; sometimes going over a bump will reset it.

 

I suspect it requires demolition of the dash to fix it so I resign myself to the fact that I bought a mark 1 Fabia and should learn to live with such faults.

 

Probably not the case for your fault, but it's an easy thing to try - If you look at the bottom of your heater controls, there's a tidy little grill. that's an intake for the cabin temperature sender. It can be full of dust, so if you can get a little hoover nozzle over it, it might help matters.

 

A decent diagnostic scan will tell you if the mixer flap motor is working properly.

Yeah but only on models with A/C

May have a shot of this too. It's rather "roasty toasty" in the car all the time.

At 75 years old, with a smoking Smoggie, I  seldom get to turn the heater off on our short trips to the shops. 😄

For those born outside of the Replibic of Nort Yorkshire ( unlike TMB) ,a SMOGGIE is a native /born in Middlesbrough, so named, I'm informed because of the smoke clouds due to the smelting industries. Hartlepool( wel in truth West Hartlepool ) gets it's fame from it's dislike of ????

TMB- best answer to the q of who did what was a reply I got from a mate in Hartlepool " we sent the other one to Middlesbrough to mate ,to bring up the IQ level".
