Top Quality Car Mats?

Featured Replies

The freeby car mats fitted to our Octy 2 have already begun to break their mountings. Can anyone recommend really good quality mats (front only would be OK) which can do the job for many years, cutting down sound, withstanding wear and relatively easy to clean? I've had a look on the Cannon site, but they only seem to do BMWs....

You got freeby car mats?! I had to pay for mine! :(

Sounds like they gave you some cheap non-Skoda ones? Or am I wrong?

I've always found genuine manufacturer's ones to be best, in terms of quality and fitment. Have you had a search on eBay?

Steve

I use custom made mats from http://www.carmats4u.com. Not cheap but very good value for money.

They are very high quality and last forever. I had a set in my Ocky Mk I and they just did not wear out, I had the aluminium protectors on the drivers mat.

Bought an equivalent set when I got the Mk II Ocky. No signs of wear after 21 months of use.

John, check out http://www.autostyle.co.uk/

They may be expensive compared to some but the quality and fit is top notch.

I've got the rubber skoda ones and they cost me £22, have to say I am very pleased with those, they do the job I want, we live on a farm so tend to have more wet mud around than most people though I don't get in with wellingtons on or anything like that. At £22 when I think they have worn out I'll just get a new set, though after 3 months and 5000 miles they seem very good. But guess rubber mats isn't every ones cup of tea. Was also pleased with the original VRS ones I had in my Fabia VRS though I was always very careful with them, I am more relaxed now I have the rubber mats in the Octy 2, perhaps you should just go for the original Skoda ones as it does sound like they may have supplied you with non Skoda ones.

Well, I've ordered a pricey set from Unique - http://www.carmats4u.com/ - and will report on their quality when they arrive.

I ordered some from carmats4u for my scooby with a wrx logo. Within 3 days the logo had started to peel away and the overall quality was no better than some of a market and they cost me over £70.00. I complained and all they did was send me another set! Unless they have changed I would stay well clear.

Probably not a lot of use but a friend of mine 'in the trade' gave me a set of Rover 45 mats several years ago ago, rubber backed with a nice plain grey velour top, and they have been superb. They have fitted my last 3 cars (24v probe, Primera GT and the Octy). Even now, with a bit of a wash, they look pretty good, and protect the original mats (handy when trade in time comes along ;) )

Any update? What are they like?

Well, they seem fine. Only problem is that, having had a Noisekiller kit fitted, the plastic fixing screws for the driver's-side mat aren't long enough to punch through the sound-deadening material and screw into the carpet. But as the sound-deadening's a fairly weighty bit of mass-loaded rubber there doesn't see to be any movement in the driver's footwell. The other mats just sit there.

Perfectly happy with the mats - they're not flashy in any way but solid material, well finished and fit fine. I suspect they also contribute just a bit to the soundproofing....
