Help! Octavia 2.0 coil confusion

Featured Replies

Classic error... changed the coil on my 2000 octy 2.0 and now have no idea where the ignition leads go. What an idiot! Can anyone help? Please! I'm in a bit of a pickle!

They are numbered if you look closely.

I've seen that the coil is lettered A - D, how does this relate to the cylinders? Am I right to assume that the cylinder to the far left of the engine (looking from the front) is A, and that the one to the right is B, etc.

Give it a go, what ya got to loose?

I thought that I would get some closure on this for anyone else in my boat! Using the image below, and all directions are taken from the front of the car..

Coil: Top right = Far left cylinder

Coil: Bottom right = Far right cylinder

Coil: Bottom Left = Middle right cylinder

Coil: Top right = Middle left cylinder

According to Haynes, for engines with a single distributorless ignition system (DIS) coil, lead A is for No 1 cylinder, lead B is for No 2 etc. No 1 cylinder is at the timing belt end of the engine.
