Crash resets after airbags replaced and reset battery faults

Featured Replies

Hi help

I have a skoda octavia 2021 1.5 etech.  It was involved in a heavey front end accident all air bags deployed.  I had all repairs done and airbags replaced. All data cleared. But I have a issue. I use jump leads to start the car. Then I get a error 48v battery  low. Then on main battery another message. Batter not charging.    I have replaced the battery. Was advised to change alternator as well. But still I have the same issue. Car will start with jump leads. Then over a few minutes  it loses power. ND THEN DIES.     Any suggestions as I have done all I can. The only thing I have not changed is a wire that goes from the possative  to minus on the battery. Please help if possible.  I have changed  battery and alternator.

Regards and thanks in advance

I suspect you're going to have to do a fault code scan with OBD11, VCDS or similar to get more information on the cause.

Hi thanks for the reply.   I have scanned it but no codes relating to the battery.  As a new car I was advised to change the battery.  No joy.  Then advised change alternator  no joy.  Just don't understand  afyer all crash data reset. Battery will not have power to start so use jump leads. Then when I take them off within minutes I get 48v battery message. Then 12v battery message. Then slow liss of revs and then cuts out.   It was suggested I change the lead on the battery that goes from + to -  with a small sensor. But that's 130.00 uk pounds and non returnable. Hence seeking help.

Thank you for the initial  reply

Worth sharing the scan with the experts here even if there are no battery related codes - there could be other issues that are having a bad effect.

Have you coded the gateway to inform it of the replacement battery?

Have you checked all fuses are intact in both fuse boxes?

Which battery has been replaced, the normal 12v one, or the mild hybrid 48v version.

Sorry if I am misunderstanding but reads like main battery was changed, but you have low voltage in hybrid battery.  I thought this charged up from the electric motor becoming an alternator during regenerative braking.

Was this automatically disconnected during the accident (it is like fuel cut off, as don't want motor still running after the crash).   It sounds to me like hybrid system is still isolated or faulty and shutting down the car.    I know some things are triggered if airbags deploy, and I wonder if your crash repairers only fixed fuel cut off and not mild hybrid motor cut off too (or whatever bit that controls it is called)

I suspect the advice about changing alternator was wrong as they didn't understand you had a mild hybrid system which hadn't been fully reinstated.  I am also wondering if changing the battery was also required.

I believe there's a procedure to follow for when the 48V battery is low, assuming there's nothing else wrong
