New owner help needed

Featured Replies

I took delivery today of my SE 1.5

I particularly wanted to use the auxiliary air heater to warm up on cold mornings.

Reading the online manual in advance I expected to receive a remote for it but there was non supplied. The icons supposed to show in the infotainment are not there either but there is something checked about automatic function of the auxiliary heater with no explanation.

So it seems I might access it through the My Skoda app. So I registered it and went to the car with both keys as directed, input email and password but all that happens is it says activation in progress and nothing happens.

What have I got wrong please?

As you're from the UK you won't have it fitted.

Hi there and welcome.

what country and what year is your vehicle?

there are 2 kinds of auxiliary heater

1 is a electric heater element to assist with warming the cabin up before the engine gets up the temperature

the other is a full coolant heater made to preheat the cabin and engine and uses fuel from the tank through a small ‘engine’ mounted in the wheel arch.

if you are after the second option and in the U.K. it was sadly not an option at all.

the tick box on the infotainment is for enabling the electric heater automatically when the interior air is colder than required

Interesting fact that webasto is not offered in the UK, is it law regulated, or just Skoda not offering it, mine has both the webasto and the aux electric one, and i must say even if you dont preheat the car, once in the car with engine running, it takes less then 5 minutes to get hot air inside, plus if you have the webasto you get the option to have it ventilate during summer, its not cooling the car, but does help to have it ventilated to the outside air temp if you park in the sun..

Is the electric element auxiliary heater an option in the U.K.?
In my experience, our 280 heats-up within one mile regardless of the outside temp.

It’s not an option but will be added depending on spec and engine.

most will have it and my tsi also has it.

Just no need, many other cars over here like Land Rover have a webasto/eberspatcher heater system.

the climate isn’t on either end of the extremes to warrant it really. That being said I am looking at being the only U.K. spec petrol with a parking heater.
