Sloppy steering

Featured Replies

I have driven loads of other cars inc skodas and a Mk IV golf and none of them have done this. Unfortuanately no dealer ever seems to have an ele Octy TDI available to compare, but I complained a lot and got nowhere.

Will try one more time, then skoda UK I Guess

I'd say get wheel alignment (tracking) checked first - if your fronts are toe'd out then you'll lose feeling with steering wheel centred, car will feel "wafty" on motorways, and you'll be eating the inside shoulders of the tyres.

Worth paying 20 to 30 quid for tracking before getting wishbones replaced.

Alignment is spot on, have had it checked, so not that. :(

I've had the car checked over and it is indeed worn front Anti Roll Bar bushes causing the knocking.

What other symptoms would worn bushes have? Would it affect the turn-in of the car? If not, then what on earth do the Powerflex poly bushes do for you?

J

Mainly just knocking and will knacker the ARB if left too long I was told by the dealer.

I think it will affect the turn in as there will be some play in that area, and I'd guess that the PU in the powerflex bushes is less soft that the OEM buses so reduces any slight play in the OEM setup to make things react sooner, but as Tavia said feel harsher.
