Creating a route on my Satnav

Featured Replies

I must be doing something wrong.

I want to create a custom route. from my home "A" via a village on a particular road "B" to my destination "C".

The satnav offers me the usual three choices, red green and orange none of which go via the route I want to take. I cannot see how to "shape" the route to what I want.

I then thought that I would just have to create the route  from "A" to "B" and then create another route from "B" to my destination at "C".  When I tried this the car only wanted to create the route from where I was parked i.e. "A".

How then do I create the route from "B" to "C" when I am parked at "A"?

My fix was to drive to "B" and while I was there then create the route to "C".

Is it me or the car that is "Simply not Clever"?

If I can't do this it looks like I will just have to dig out my 12 year old Garmin Zumo and relearn how to create the route I want.

Help

Create the A-C for and pick your preferred way. Then simply select a new destination (B) and you will be asked if that's a different destination or a 'via' point.

The car appears to be cleverer than the OP. 😜

Thanks

At my age I am used to lots of things being cleverer than me.

It comes to all of us eventually.

Agreed! 👍

I agree the satnav IS cleverer than it seems, but discovering how to get it to do what you want is still more difficult than it need be!

I was struggling for ages to find a menu setting that would store your current position, until I realised you only needed to touch your current position on the map!

If the system designers had bothered to pay a technical author to provide decent user documentation (based on how to perform functions rather than describe what the screens look like) I'm sure we would all be much happier with it.

Indeed, I want to disable the silly hand waving gesture thing. I dont need it, but after lots of menu diving cant seem to find. Maybe you can't!

The car GPS has its limitations regarding Routes compared with stick on devices such as Garmin or TomTom.

Which is why I continue to use such an add on on both 4 wheels and 2.

Features I enjoy daily are comparative speed display and counting down to turns, via points and destination of course.
