That adapter you got with the camera needs to go into the module in the glove box (With the SD cards).

Most likely issue is failure to plug connector in correctly. It's pretty stiff going in and is a right pain to fully locate correctly.

Don't try and "pull" it into place with the locking mechanism, use careful force to push it in all the way, then use the locking mechanism to lock it in place

This thread has everything you need.

(Edit: Not my thread, this was down to @weylandwho deserves the lion's share of the credit for it.)

Hey there! Have you succeeded making your rear view camera work on the Swing 5E0 035 871 shown on the posted photos?

..did anybody find any compatible video adapter/interface?

There are multiple versions of the Swing, some with video chips and some without.

That camera and many others will work if the Swing has a video chip:

I'm not sure if the 5E0 035 871 A has a video chip but you could check yourself by opening it up. Otherwise, Pab might know.

Yes, I've seen that - thanks! Apparently A is compared to B on that pic, and A lacks the chip.

Please note it is a 5J0...A vs 5E0...B so may not be the same as your unit.

That won't help if there is no video input on your headunit.

Instead, you'd need something like this which can output directly to the screen: https://www.car-interface.com/vendita/en/interfaces-a-v-video-skoda/1552-video-interface-for-skoda-with-mib2-entry-radio-swing.html

Even is that is compatible, given the price, you'd be much better retrofitting a new unit with camera support.

That being said, your headunit *might* have the video chip based on this post on drive2 https://www.drive2.ru/c/581210093853345170/

The best/quickest way to check is to open your glovebox unit up and verify manually if the chip exists.

Spot on! I missed the J. I think I shall split the can and look for the chip.

On the other hand, it looks cheaper to fit a new unit, but I believe that if we factor in the ODIS activation and the service hours, it could be cheaper to buy the unit and the cam and fit them myself - I'll work out the math..

Thanks for a great help!

(more than) happy to report that my 5E0 035 871 A (MIB_Gen2) has the TW9900 chip.

I'll order the cam and return with info if and when I'll set it up.

Lo and behold:) my 5E0 035 871 A (MIB_Gen2), without glove-compartment unit(!) is compatible with a reverse cam. The worse is yet to come, but I hope I'll manage to install it swiftly. Glad we got that out of the way and I hope it will help others too! Thank you guys and especially you langers2k!IMG_20231012_121749.thumb.jpg.d20bc2cd6674cf5aad5c49cd35881a9f.jpg

Hi! Check if you have the TW9900 chip. That was the only way I was sure that my 5E0 035 871 A (MIB_Gen2) is compatibile. My HU is rather old, but to my surprise had the video processing chip. The C newer ones seem to lack the chip and the video signal.

So, to sum it up: after I was sure that the HU has the chip I ordered the ~90mm camera, as it was the only one fitting. As a sidenote: it was missing a screw, but I improvised.

Good luck!

Hi!

As I said in my last post, my 5E0 035 871 A (MIB_Gen2) is compatibile. My HU is rather old, but to my surprise had the video processing chip.

Yours - the 5E0 035 871 C newer Swing - seems to lack the chip and the video signal. The only way to be sure, is to unscrew it, but judging by the signs it doesn't, as it should have worked right out the box.

Anyway, I also coded it to make sure:

M5F-Information Electr.

Coding-07: LCH

-B19: enable b4

Depending on the MY, there might also be another one:

M10-Park Assist

Security-16: 71679 / 20103

Coding-07: LCH

-B03: b4-5 – enable (10) RVC installed

Good luck!

when i go in 5f in vcds it doesnt show anything in long coding helper

anyway i have odis too i code it though odis i enabled park assist but nothing happens when i put in reverse nothing not even a blank screen

so i think that my radio dont support it i will open it today to look for the chip

but maybe you know what is the code with the chip so i can order it via ebay

thanks for your help mate

Mine is welded on the board, without a socket. You can read the code from these pics.

My 5F - LCH is also blank, but I have triple checked to make sure that the byte and bit work in my MY.

The code of the radio mate not the chip

i mean what is the radio that has the chip on it

If the one posted repeatedly above is insufficient, I'll add more:

Radio Swing 5E0 035 871 A - MU-E-ER 852 6490

SW ver: MEN2_EU_SK_P5040L

Sorry !!! How do you open your trunk ?

Where is the button in the new camera part ? 😅

On the old part it's near the camera lens. What new part are you talking about?
