No wonder these are replacing a lot of the central dividers on motorways.....

Intresting to see if road saftey groups consider them to be safe yet. While they undoubtly stop crossovers (responsible for 40 deaths a year I believe) they are much worse for the vehicles as they offer no energy absorbtion like armaco, hence a car which makes up the majority of collisiosn into the barrier now takes the full energy absorbtion. The consensus was a while back that these would be implemented not for safety but to minismise disruption (both from crossovers and barrier repairs) so don't go hitting them.
