Looking for some guidance from some knowledgeable people on here. After 256k my tailgate struts are gone. The hatch weighs a ton and does not stay up and really slams down to shut. I took one of them off and it has no resistance. 
The problem is there are so many out there varying prices new and used. I cannot locate any part numbers only one of them has writing Hoher Druck which appears to be the German manufacturer. The car is a 2005/55 Elegance hatch. No boot spoiler. 
I measured one at 60.5cm long. I don’t mind waiting for a decent set or taking a punt on a used set. What I don’t understand is if I end up with a set off a VRS which has a spoiler is that detrimental in anyway or is it just stronger ?

According to the parts cat HERE there are several variants of the main part number - 1Z5 827 550.  I've included the decoded option codes below and whilst I could understand a weight variance depending on the rear wiper fitments I can't see how the colour of the side windows would make a difference?  The VRS struts are on the same part number but two different variants - both including the spoiler. 

 

I'm confused!

 

8M0 = W/o rear window wiper and washer system
8M1 = Rear window wiper and washer system with intermittent control
4KA = Side and rear windows in clear glass
4KC = Side and rear windows in heat-insulatingglass
4KV = Side and rear windows in laminated glass

 

Looking at the entry on skoda-parts.com for the RS struts it suggests that the rating of the struts does change according to the all-up weight of the hatch.

Thanks @MikeTheThinker I have a rear wiper so that means the 8M1 version.  The glass ones are confusing to me too.
