vrs Panel filter

Featured Replies

Hi, just got a octy vrs yesterday and wondering if an uprated panel filter would be worth getting as I cannot afford a full on induction kit right now

Is it worth it can anyone suggest what are the best?

Cheers

Hi m8 and welcome to the slippery slope...... I started with a Cotton Green panel filter which we did a group buy on from Demon Tweeks....Its a start but i would save your pennies for the real thing a "carbonio" Pity really i just sold one to "Fullfat"

Cheers for the quick reply mate, think I may as well just save for the real thing :D

Oh I dunno, replacing the panel filter with either a Green Cotton or a K&N (which seems to be the main two!) will make a small if not noticable difference. It's your money but it depends on what you have in mind as the ultimate goal?.

With a Green or K&N panel filter the engine will rev a bit more freely, especially above 5000rpm where the standard paper filter gets too restrictive.

I am thinking about upgrading from a Green filter to a CAI of some sorts and trying to weigh up the benefits and drawbacks.

I have heard that a CAI can cause the engine to lose power at high rpm (on a dyno) - is this correct or is it more a case of the air flow characteristics on an RR being the different to those in real world driving?

On the plus side, the added induction growl of a CAI would be most welcome (as long as it is not too intrusive)

I am quite happy with the power right now (last car was up a 1.3 Hyundai Accent!) but I just wanted the car to perform a little better and sound a bit 'meaner'

Being 22 I need to conserve my money for insurance and fuel etc, but my ultimate aim is to upgrade the parts and take it to Knockhill for a track day maybe?

I've been looking at dump valves and the like, (any recommendations would be appreciated) but really I just want to try and get some basic mods (induction kit, exhaust, dump valve etc).

Cheers for all the help though

i recommend forge dv006 or dv007, mine dv007 has been in use for over 3000km now and no problems yet.

panel filter with a nice big cold air feed,is a cheap alternative to a full on induction kit.

and if your not a fan of noises,a quieter alternative

As you mention Knockhill I assume you are in or around Scotland. If so, you can do worse than contacting Star Performance in Dysart :thumbup:

If you'd like to hear my Octy, let me know :D:D:D

Yeah mate, I'm in Balloch, just next to Loch Lomond :D

Cheers for the lead on Star Performance

Might take you up on the offer someday ;)
