I have just sold my Focus RS due to needing to free up some money. Been thinking about a mk4 Golf gti/ v6 but the prices are still out of my reach. The Octavia Vrs as i understand it is very similar and the prices seem to be pretty good.

I'm looking for any VRs owners out there to suggest if there is anything i need to be looking out for when viewing these?

Also anyones personal thoughts on them to would be ideal!

Well youv'e come to the right place to get your questions answered that's for sure!. Many owners on here swear by them but problems are few depending on what age/mileage you are looking at. Perhaps if you gave a bit more of an indication on what your budget is you may get more conlusive answers.

I've had an Octy vRS estate for about a year - done 12k now.

Thoroughly enjoy it - and I think you will find they are great value for money.

Keep your eye on the For Sale section on here - used ones crop up every now and then.

There is a re-mapped one in this thread that may be of interest.

There is also a used car search facility on Skoda UK's website, and usually one or two on Ebay.

Might help if you post your general location in case anyone spots anything in your area.

Ideally no more then £7000 and ideally Black in colour but they seem to be quite hard to get hold of!?!

I used to own a golf mk4 gti turbo so i know they hold really good tuning potential but that is not my concern for the moment

At nearly six grand for a Y reg seems a bit rich to me!. Your budget of £7k should get you a nice example and as stated check out the used car search on Skoda's website and E-bay both should turn up a few to look at. Good luck with your search and hope you find what you are looking for.

Edit: That silver one for sale is a seriously nice example even though it has been modded!. A bargain to be had there mate!.

As someone with golf mkiv and octavia in the family.... I can honestly say although the octavia misses some of the little touches it is by far the better of the two.... i mean compare the dash between them.... Octavia looks far more stylish than the golf with its open vents etc.
