Adjusting headlamps for France

Featured Replies

Hello board. New to this site; new to Skoda: just bought a used Superb III SE Technology TDI (2018).

I'm trying to nail down what I need to do about headlamps when driving in France.

I've seen various board comments about different types of headlamps, whether they adjust themselves, or through settings in the infotainment system, or something else... the solutions seem to vary but it seems I need to know what I've got. Even the Halfords beam converter checklist expects me to know the difference between "standard" and "projector + Xenon" headlights. Trouble is, I don't, and I'm not sure how to find out. The manual seems to cover a fair bit of ground between models without necessarily pointing out what I've actually got.

What I do know is:

  • I've got an Amundsen infotainment system (maps updated to 2022)
  • In the Car settings section (Lights), I don't see anything about changing to the other side of the road 🤷‍♂️
  • the manual says something about going to a specialist garage 😠
  • model details above

Here is an image of my offside headlamp cluster, in case that floats your boat:

They look like standard halogen units so they will need the external stickers

From personal experience they have always changed automatically when you reach the other side of the Channel.

You get a message to say they have changed.

The automatic feature is for xenon headlamps.

As yours has halogen you will need to fit stickers to them sorry.

Thank you all, that has been helpful.

I can confirm this as I'm currently on the French Riviera and every time I start the car it informs that the lights are adjusted to driving on the right.

Pooling the feedback, it looks like that may be dependent on trim level - L&K vs SE Technology

OP Says he has a 2018 SE Technology. I have a 2018 SE L Technology, which has xenon lights. I would have thought all Technology would have xenon, or is Skoda confusing me again,

Your signature says you have SEL Executive which has Xenons as standard. OP has SE Technology which is lower spec to SEL Excutive.

My Bad! As I said is Skoda confusing me again? It is, I've only had it for 5 days, and had to go and check. I do have the executive. But... I would have a trim called technology would be more likely to have xenon. I stand corrected .🤪
