Easy entry/convenient entry function coding

Featured Replies

I know there are several coding threads, but I believe that this information deserves its own thread because it addresses a specific fault that I have seen or heard about happening on more than one car.

Mk IVs delivered in some regions are fitted with memory seats, have the infotainment system menu to turn the feature on, but the coding is wrong and when you attempt to toggle the menu item, it results in the error message "Sorry, this function is currently unavailable."

What's bizarre is that some cars have the feature permanently turned on, with no way to disable it because the menu doesn't work! See https://youtu.be/4ljA2W0zvrk?t=917 for an example featuring a Mk8 Golf R. I have also personally seen turned on it in demonstrator vehicles on the lot at my dealer. My own car was off by default. My dealer was clueless about it!

Here is the coding that fixed my car:

Control unit 36: Driver Seat
Long coding → Easy_Entry_front → Value: active
Long coding → enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_passenger_by_driver → Value: active

Control unit 06: Passenger Seat
Long coding → Easy_Entry_front → Value: active
Long coding → enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_passenger_by_driver → Value: active

I used OBDeleven but VCDS would also work. Neither SFD unlock or a security access code were required. Coding was done with the ignition on, engine off and bonnet open. Toggling easy entry entry via the infotainment system now works for driver seat and front passenger seat.

The following long coding values did NOT help me: enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_by_BCM - I do not recommend setting this bit to active. I had seen that it was required on some earlier model Audis, but it actually hides the menu to configure the seats on my car. Easy_Entry_fond - does not seem to do anything on my car. YMMV, and I strongly recommend doing a backup of the current settings of your car with your chosen diagnostic tool before you do any coding.

I've got a memory seat only for the driver, passenger's seat is manual.
I tried to enable Easy Entry by setting appropriate values in Control unit 36: Driver Seat. When I turn off the ignition, the seat moves backward for several CMs. However, when I turn the ignition back on, nothing happens and I have to use the control buttons on the seat to move it forward.
Also, no matter what's the combination of all 4 mentioned settings (easy_entry_front, enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_passenger_by_driver, enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_by_BCM, easy_entry_fond), I don't see an option in my infotainment to control seat setting.
Any clues what can I do further to make this working? I won't mind not having that in my infotainment, I just want to make this work :)
Thanks in advance!

Do you have memory seats? Otherwise it will not work.

Like I said, I've got a driver memory seat, but passenger seat doesn't have memory as it's purely manual/mechanical.

Have you also followed the process to learn the stop position in the manual?

Sorry if that's already been tried by you.

Could you elaborate on what does "stop position in the manual" mean? I suppose I didn't follow such process as I don't recognize that name.

Manual

You said when you unlock, the seat moves back, perfect.

In theory when you close door and put on ignition it supposed to move forward to your memory position.

I was wondering if your final seated position has been stored and paired to your key also?

Now it makes much more sense. I can confirm coding works properly in my case as well :)
Thank you @varooom!

Thanks for the feedback.

It also helps others that search for the same issue.

Enjoy the feature!

Thank you so much for fixing my non-working easy entry! My RS would give function not available error when trying to enable easy entry for driver seat.

After following your steps for control unit 36 and 6, the easy entry setting for driver and passenger seat in my headunit is now working after I set both to enabled!

Is it possible to get it to show up in the Infotainment Screen, after coding it in Unit 36?

The solution I found,

you have to activate the following

go to 5F Multimedia

Vehicle function list BAP

driver_seat_0x10 set to activated

driver_seat_0x10_msg_bus set to Comfort data bus

After this the Buttons in the Infotainment started working
