Tacky paint job?

Hope you have a flame proof vest..

The Octavia WRC as its correctly known, comes with a few extras over a "normal" vRS.

Including...

White alloys

Heated Seats

Alarm system

Xenon Lights

"That" paintjob

And a sign on the dash indicating its number amongst the 100

Oh, and a

im sure that comment wont please a few!

my only question would be why

Sorry about the paint thing! Dont you get an alarm system with a VrS? It doesn't look too bad I suppose if you can remember the Mazda Mx5 Turbo ltd edition to celebrate them winning Le Mans in 91. Now that was terrible. Orange and green with a "zipper" running from front to back. Cant remember anything that bad recently.

They actually look a lot better in the flesh, so to speak ;)

As for the Octy vRS, it comes with a Cat 2 immobiliser, no alarm.

mosy second hand ones will have one no doubt, mine did

Chris, do you have a middle name ?? Is it Nomex by any chance ??

Thw WRC does have a DIFFERENT paint job, but the majority of the green is decal based. The cars has ESP, Heated Seats, Xenon lights & yes it does have an Alarm, none of which are available on a standard vRS.

Mine also has a Pit Bull looking after it !!

:D

Graham

Damn, ESP...

I knew i'd forgotten something

Graham,

Yours looks like you have removed all the decals. Is that correct? I know I might get myself in bother(again) but whats the opinion here of the Seat Leon Cupra R. Nearly went for one recently when the wife replaced her company car. She talked me out of it and got a 307 HDI!

I did look at the VrS at the time but it was really expensive compared to the Seat for the monthly payments. The Seat at the time was also only available with 3 awful colours like red, yellow or black. If it had offered silver I would have persisted. Can't get used to not having my old Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo. Now thats a lot of bang for your buck!

BTW I've got the most basic Fabia ever made, 2 Mk1 golf convertibles, and a MkII GTI.

Chris,

No worries about the colour, I have heard it all before (Looks like a Paramedics car and much worse).

Yep I had the car made Naked as it were. It was too much with all the "Max Power" graphics on it.

Opinions for the Seat Cupras are very high here, especially since the power hike for the "R".

I think that most owners here wanted a bit of different image, almost an Oxymoron, (Fast Skoda ??). Am I correct in thinking the prices you were quoted were for Contract Hire ?? If so the reason the Skoda is more expensive is that Glass' Guide gives the second hand values for Skoda a real hammering, thie C.Hire companies raise the payments to cover this. In real terms this is B*****S as the residuals for the vRS are Storming High !!

Graham

Ditto all that.

I was originally quoted more for a 15k Octavia than a 17k Golf.

Yeah it was the residuals. But having said that I cant imagine the Seats were that great either. Could have got any "empty" Mercedes but whats the point. Anyway the decision was taken away by her indoors deciding that we needed a diesel that didnt involve her contributing at all to her monthly payments. I managed to convince her to take the 110 hp version of the Pug. Gotta say cant fault it for performance economy etc. But the build quality! Had it for a year and done 5000 miles(all round central london) but since day 1 the gearbox whines like a dive bomber on overun/downchange.Told its a known issue!Anyway aside from the throttle sticking wide open on a number of occasions due to the floor mat(!) its been reliable.

I think Skoda missed a golden opertunity with the Vrs rally, Namely the Octavia Rally car was 4 wheel drive, the VRs Rally isnt

I looked at a vRC Rally/WRC before deciding the 2k premium over a normal vRS was too much for not a lot more....though would love the Xenons!

The dealer told me it had lower stiffer suspension and it's got 4-pot brake calipers and bigger discs up front.

Si,

Afraid the Rally does not have 4 pots up front as standard, it has std Octy vRS setup. There is one Rally that has green 4 pot Brembos, this is/was the car that was being used by Skoda Events to publicise the launch.. Mike Davies from Skoda Events told me they had stolen/borrowed/begged or even paid for the Brembos from SEAT & painted them green themselves. Ride Height is also std vRS.

Problem is Skoda never published the full spec in print, so dealers being dealers, they tend to fill in the gaps, trouble is, they never seem to know when to stop.

My dealer however, admitted to knowing very little about the car which was the best policy as I had to find out for myself.

Graham

I test drove it at a dealer in Oxford 2 weeks ago.

Definately had Brembo calipers, though they wern't painted green. Just grey.

It's an ex-skoda car thats had it's graphics removed, only done 5,000 miles in 2-3years (on a 51plate), maybe this is the ex-demo car?

Car number 50 of 100.
