Dismantling rear tail light

Recommended Posts

I have a dead insect in the bottom right of the outer tail light. Is it possible to remove it from my tail light? I can see 4x tx20 bolts on the rear of the light. Thanks.

If they are LED lights, then should be "sealed" apart from a small breather tube for moisture potentially.

Odds are you won't get the pesky insect out (at least not easily)

Heating unit, prise apart while glue is hot and get it out, and reseal quick might just do it perhaps?

This should work:-

  1. Remove the lighting wiring from the bulbs
  2. Undo the bolts and remove the cluster
  3. Remove the relevant bulb
  4. Hold the cluster bulb side down and shake the insect out
  5. Refit is the reverse of removal.

Take a few pictures if possible and attach.  Then can get diagrams found nice and easy.

Seems there's one in each now 🙃
It's a 2018 Model, on the inner part of the break light.

U need to remove the upper tailgate trim to access the inner tailights.

Seems like quite the work to get that panel off.
Mine is an estate, perhaps its easier then?
