How do I turn off this bloody awful fake engine noise?
I remember Williams (F1) playing God Save the Queen with their exhaust. Pretty sure there were no speakers involved.

In that case what we need is a small LiPo battery, with wireless charging installed in the driver's seat (assuming the key is in their back pocket).

Replace key battery message
Absolutely, I'll let you know first mention of "Please replace key battery". I posted to document when I put new battery in. What are we actually comparing here? Lifetime per battery or Lifetime per £cost? My £2.99 outlay bought me;- 8 × CR2032 2 × CR2025 2 × CR2016 (might fit) 12 × miscellany of smaller watch cells So 10 or 12 suitable for key. If this first one lasts 'til Christmas morning, I'll be very happy. Could be a long experiment, if played out to the bitter end …

Replace key battery message
My car has been urging me to change the key battery for a few days now. So I bought an assortment of button cells from Lidl, and after eventually extracting a CR2032 from the adult-proof blister pack (the most difficult part of the operation), swapped it for the moribund CR2025. It didn't quite latch under the restraining tab, being a nominal 0.65mm thicker. But the cover snapped on without any fuss, so there's plenty of room 😄 Now, what to do with those other 23 buttons …

New Tyres for Octavia VRS, slightly bigger on profile size??
Thanks nta16, your efforts are not unappreciated. I’m not exactly young myself, and I thought a fender was a bumper (to fend off other cars 😁) so I had to Wikipedia it. My reference vehicle for such Americanisms, is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! which IIRC had four fenders, so … just can’t rely on anything these days. Don't worry; very chilled here. Just can’t help being a pedant 🙁

New Tyres for Octavia VRS, slightly bigger on profile size??
Actually, we were both talking about the guard. The link Donweather provided, used the term fender. But I wasn't trying to find an English equivalent for fender, I was trying to find an English equivalent for guard. I understand fender is usually reserved for front wings, in cars at least, with the rear wing called a quarter panel. I think wheel arch is best in this context, especially as my Octy III has three panels around the front wheel; wing, bumper & outer sill. Even our American cousins on first encounter, would understand wheel arch. None of these terms are exact equivalents. I chose the closest to ‘edge of the guard’. PS. I did think flush guards were guards for the flushes. And yes, there are such things, just not in this context.

Thanks Donweather, for the link at least (definitely not what Google found) – your description however is less illuminating. So, What you call the guard, is what the link calls the fender – and everybody else calls a wheel arch. Your (horizontal offset) should be (no horizontal offset) – and ‘not recessed’ doesn’t really need clarification Vertically flush should be horizontally flush – ie, the movement to make it not flush, is horizontal cf. horizontal offset This is apparently (according to your link) flush fitting;- Maybe they were aiming for flush – what they got is poke! Still, the gap from tyre to arch is greater than the poke. Good luck with the ride and handling, if you want to minimise that gap.

OK it’s bugging me now. What is a flush guard?

New Tyres for Octavia VRS, slightly bigger on profile size??
You’re talking about fitting tyres with 9mm greater horizontal diameter … and the vertical diameter is unchanged? Are you re-inventing the wheel? And all those SUV’s have the extra clearances you’re trying to fill. – It’s a fashion thing. PS. I don’t need to know what a flush guard is.

I'm just guessing, but wouldn't a 4×4 have greater suspension travel? Maybe you're not intending to go off-road, but I wouldn't be so keen to fill that gap. There's also the issue of clearances on full steering lock. Instead, just move to Chelsea, and you'll fit right in with the school run. 😁

Octavia III Facelift
Hi, What jumped out at me is, could you put a black cover on the screw holding your 'H' to the number plate? Maybe swap it with the one that's just missed the 'Z'? That would really annoy me. Doesn't need a Pantone code, just black or white (or yellow).

Replace key battery message
I used to park a little Fabia at a friend's, who had a garage door remote. In the winter it would quite often not work due to cold battery. So I'd get the battery out, stick it under my arm for 30 seconds, put it back in and the garage would open. Better than getting out of the car 😏 + temp => + heat => + energy Worth a try if you're locked out (and you have the key with you).

Does Octavia MkIII (2020) use "belt tensioner" fuses?
Oh yes, I'm sure they do. But I'm sure you'll agree, the idea is for me to move around as little as possible. Holding me tightly is fine 😏 -- picking me up and throwing me into the seat is To Be Avoided.

I get the massive red exclamation mark❗treatment every so often, eg. turning left at a junction (single lane, but flares left) when someone is waiting to tun right. I'm thinking of disabling Front Assist, if all it does is distract me when I'm already braking. A❗projected onto windscreen + full beam headlights would be more effective and safer. But I make a habit of sitting right against the seat back, then adjusting the seat for comfort. Then I 'pre-tension' the seatbelt myself, before driving. I've driven a lot of other vehicles (with permission, of course). One friend whom I drive for, has an Octavia with 3 memory buttons for seat position.

So if one wanted to sell such a car, just make sure fuel is low and the problem won't be evident until after it's sold. 😞 Sounds like Skoda are aiding unscrupulous sellers😒- Loud engine buzz cabin
I've got this noise too. Initially suspected fuel flap locking motor, which is ineffective but i thought it might be trying -- very trying. Then I suspected fuel pump, so your diagnosis is helpful. Will get it checked out ...- Infotainment Model Numbers
Hi everyone, I have an Amundsen ? MIB ? Device: P/N 5E 003 587 4A H/W: 040 S/W: 0421 Unfortunately, due to being recent 2nd hand purchase, I don't have a Skoda official SD card. Previous owner has probably lost it. Out of interest, would the original card work in another vehicle? or would another official card work in mine? I've just downloaded maps from Skoda site with my VIN and noticed the DBInfo.txt file contains P/N's etc. but none of them match my system. Is my unit a replacement? Thanks for any help on this- Hello
Greetings from the land of mountains, lakes, rain and lots of bends in the road 😄 Any straight bits of road are usually next to a railway or maybe a canal, and will suddenly swap to the other side just to keep you on your toes 😵 Fortunately, I love threading a lively estate between dry-stone walls ... - DPF issues (sorry)
